Starting today, tourists who are residents of Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Maine, Maryland, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington DC can enter Costa Rica with a negative COVID-19 PCR taken within 72 hours before departure from the US. You will not have to quarantine in Costa Rica.

On September 15th, Colorado, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania will be added to that green list.

You are allowed to connect in other states to fly to Costa Rica.

Adults will need a valid driver’s license or state ID showing that you’re from one of those states in order to enter Costa Rica and you’ll have to obtain travel insurance that covers quarantine and medical expenses for COVID-19.

Don’t hold your breath though if you’re hoping to use your Hyatt points at the Andaz Papagayo, which was kept at category 5 after a COVID-19 reprieve this year. It doesn’t plan on opening until mid-November at the earliest.

Will you travel to Costa Rica?

Somebody tell Israel to match this

Heck yeah…the only problem is if you need medical attention while there. My father was in a hospital in CR for 10 weeks. So I have a solid experience behind that opinion

Dan\'s the Man

What was the problem with his medical attention? He didn’t receive good care?

A

Do you have a post about getting to CR? Best points to use, etc?

It’s only a 5 hour flight from most SW/SE hubs AAs flying A330-Neos they retired the 757s so just reclining domestic F seats. Same with AS/SW flying A320 or 737s. Unsure about DL/UA.

AA has/had 20kRT Websavers – Cash Tix have been $475-600 RT on AA

If you have a CP with AS/SW are good options (IIRC SW is not presently flying to CR).

A

Nice, thanks.

We booked AA Websavers last April for late Jan~Feb 2021. Hopefully OR is added to the list of states by then.

On the bright side AA new change policy means we can get our miles back for free – I was thinking we would just take the loss rather than pay to redeposit for all the tickets.

Would like to go there for winter break. But nervous about the constant changes

What happens if only 1 parent has NYS drivers license, while other is from another state.

Bob

How about just a voter registration card from a blue state?

Dan\'s the Man

Nah they won’t take those. Those are too easy to get 🙂
