It shouldn’t come as much of a shock that 01/01 is a blackout date.
Use Orbitz flex search to find cheap dates and then plug them into Alitalia.
Or try the sample date I gave to see how it should be before saying it doesn’t work…

We booked late last night and this morning realized that the dates were problematic. Notwithstanding the web site language of refund, we were told repeatedly over a 35 minute conversation that the tickets were non-refundable and that “the web site was a mistake” and we would get no refund as this was a promotional fare.

That is because unnoticeably the choices change from outbound to inbound flights mid-page and you need to choose a return flight. Once you have picked both, the warning will not appear

My intended flight Miami to tel aviv flight through JFK and was a delta flight but when I changed the info to an Alitalia flight it went through. I cannot fly the Alitalia flight, only delta. Does this deal work if not flying via Rome? I seem to read people got the deal but how? Isn’t everyone getting that error message? And customer service is zero help!!

For those who have been having an error trying to book using the Alitalia site, I spoke to Alitalia and they do not know why direct Delta flights to Israel are being displayed on their website. They cannot pull up these flights on their own system. I searched using Dan’s dates 3/19-4/5 and I get the very cheap price showing up, but cannot book it after entering the code and names/ages. not sure what is going on.

Delta flights don’t work. Only Alitalia flights can be booked online.

I was able to book one of the legs on Delta with the discount, though a few others I tried got the error a bunch of you are mentioning.

Do you know anything about the baggage fee and if there is any on Delta when purchasing tickets thru alitalia. I purchased a domestic flight from JFK – MIA on Delta flight, and when I spoke to two representatives from Alitalia they told me that one piece of luggage is included in the ticket and there is no fee. I told them that it is on Delta and it is a domestic flight, but they still told me there is no fee. When I called Delta they told me they can’t see what Alitalia is claiming, and only the ticket counter by the airport will be able to see that. According to Delta there is a fee.

It’s only a discount of 15% and there are different prices for different flights. You seem to be choosing a more expensive flight than the one Dan spoke of for 949.

It was a nightmare-we tried different variations (delta/alitalia, direct/nonstop etc) for two days (even in middle of the night!) and kept getting error messages until the last moment. Alas, despite all the hours and frustration, we never did get to book our tickets…
