On Tuesday 8/25, close to midnight, a fire was started at the University of Delaware Chabad. The fire was set at the back of the house, but the damages spread throughout the entire property. This was not an accident. This was arson.

This is bigger than just one house. This is about students losing their Jewish home away from home. It was a safe space for hundreds of beloved Jewish souls at the University of Delaware. This is where they came to feel embraced, accepted, and loved. This was the space where they felt anchored amidst the stormy days of college life. This was the place that made them feel whole. And now this place is but a pile of ashes. Darkened by black soot and the smells of smoke. Their students are shaken to the core. They feel so brokenhearted, lost and confused.

This is not where we will let the story end. This is just an opportunity for us to show the world how the Jewish people respond to tragedy. In the shadow of the fire, and among the ashes, a light of unity will shine brighter and much longer than the fire of destruction.
