“On June 29, 2007, Sprint sent letters notifying some customers that their service would be canceled by the end of July due to excessive calls to customer service.
“Our records indicate that over the past year, we have received frequent calls from you regarding your billing or other general account information,” the letter reads. “While we have worked to resolve your issues and questions to the best of our ability, the number of inquiries you have made to us during this time has led us to determine that we are unable to meet your current wireless needs.”
“Therefore after careful consideration, the decision has been made to terminate your wireless service agreement effective July 30, 2007.”
Subscribers who have gotten letters from Sprint terminating their service won’t have to pay the early termination fee…”

Will this work with T-mobile? I am trying to get out of my contract
if you had ever called sprint you would be waiting for hours to get through so if you call exessively you would be spending alot of your time with them on the phone and still get no where so you have to ask yourself if its worth it for time invested – i know id rather pay 150.00 to cancell instead of spending 40 hours on the phone my time is worth money too
if i can read rite it ses sprint for a reson
hey dan you passed 770,000 hits and comeing into 800,000 hits
i am trying to get out of my contract from cingular att any ideas
if someone was trying to get out of their contract its a good thing.. but for those who wanted to keep em.. its horrible!
Folks,
This article is posted tongue-in-cheek!
Look in the knowledgebase to get real options to exit a cellular contract…
This article actually scares me.
I’ve spent hours with sprint (over my yeshiva years) tweaking my Sprint plan. I don’t have as much time, but when necessary, I still call them to tweak it further (I call at times when I can do other thing while i’m on the phone).
So now that I’ve babied my plan into what I want it to be (most plan for least $$$), I’m worried Sprint will use this as an excuse to terminate my service.
Asher O: do you mind telling us which plan you have, how much you pay, and how you got it?
I would consider answering you, However:
1. You are anonymous, I am not.
2. I have nothing to gain and everything to lose (Its a longshot that anyone on sprint whould read this post, but i don’t want to rub their nose in it).
3. The more i share my methods, the less chances of them working.
What i could tell you is:
1. Do your research.
2. Just because I got the plan I have, doesn’t mean You (or even I) could replicate it.
3. My claim to fame is not my plan, its the fact that i didn’t give Sprint a cent for my first 10 months of service.
🙂
Have a good shabbos.
LOL just a fellow Jew/Ctown reader. Have a good Shabbos Asher.
Hi Dan,
I searched the knowledgebase and did not find any way to cancel a sprint phone unless I paid $20 to a third party or sprint changes the plan and they will never admit it.
What I have done is emailed the BBB and am trying to get them to cancel the account. So far sprint has offered to take off part of the charges. I am hoping they will take them all off.
If there is a better way, please tell.
Thank you.
Asher,
I’m also interested in what you have, and I’m NOT anonymous, nor do I work for sprint (if you follow my blogger name, you’ll find articles I write about T-mobile).
I’m interested in Sprint only because there is a chance that I’ll save money compared to T-mo… even though its really hard to beat my T-mobile plan ($54.99 + tax for 2 lines, 580 min shared + unlimited data on one line). SERO has me interested, especially since I can get free texting if I jump in before the 15th of July, but 2 SERO lines cost a little more than I’m paying, so there isn’t much incentive. I’ve heard there are tricks to get a better deal than posted prices, but I’m scared to try them until I’ve heard everything there is to know.
Yes, I’ve done research, but I’m still skeptical as to what works vs. what doesn’t…
Hit me up with some info if you got time… I think you can follow the link in my name to contact me.
Thanks,
Mordy G
Mordy,
Like i said, knowing my plan won’t mean you can call and ask for it.
When i joined Sprint in 2002 i had the $40/400 minute plan (for 2 weeks…). I kept tweaking it, adding free features and getting discounts.
My current plan is a very old sprint plan ($85/2000 Minutes). I have lots of free features added to it. I also have several discounts on my plan. I share the minutes between 6 phones.
On a side note, I have a T-Mo acct. with 1500 day and unl. N/W minutes for $50. I’m pretty sure i can add a line to it for $10/month. It was a promo they had running for all of a week.
good luck trying to open a new sprint account anytime in the next 40 years after being dumped by them for too many calls to customer service
I see that guys want to get Sprint accounts, so I thought I’d put in my own few words.
Although sprint has great deals, for those of us living in Crown Heights, sprint has terrible service. So if you do live here, you face the possibility of having to go ouotside into the street every time you make a call.
Sprint works just fine in crown heights, besides you can roam on verizon for free with sero.
An idea to cancel AT&T/Cingular plan. I am not sure if it works since I don’t want to cancel yet. But you find a city where there is no service (i.e. alot of cities in New Hampshire) and tell them that you are supposed to be moving there and there isn’t service. Remember that you signed the contract stating that Cingular would be providing you service. I would imagine that you would have to fight around a little.
