Air Canada will follow United and Delta’s lead in extended elite status.
You will maintain whatever status you hold in 2020 for 2021 as well.
If you already have status and requalify for status in 2020, you’ll be able to get that status and gift the same status level to a friend for use in 2021.
Additionally for every 5 Aeroplan miles that you donate to charity between now and April 30th, you’ll get 1 elite qualifying mile, up to 25,000 elite qualifying miles for a donation of 125,000 Aeroplan miles.
Air Canada and Delta have come up with some creative schemes to keep people flying this year. United did not, though perhaps that’s not a bad thing when people should be staying home.
Well, American, JetBlue, and Southwest, what are you waiting for?

A/C should just give me my money back for a cancelled flight for a trip that I will never take, instead of these “schemes”. But they are still refusing.

Hey Dan, on an air Canada note, do have any details about the Air Canada Australia flights that were subsequently cancelled, officially bc it was a price mistake? I got the email from AC but I initially booked it on CheapOair, and they didn’t reach out to me about a refund. (So far I emailed them…). Or any chance CheapOair will maintain my booking and take responsibility for the new major jump in price?
