The Spark Cash card is a simple cashback card. If you also have a Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card or a Spark® Miles Card you can transfer that cashback to those cards and then transfer into airline miles.
The Spark Miles card can be used towards paid travel or they can be transferred into airline miles. You can book paid travel via any booking method and then get a refund for that purchase by requesting to use your points at a value of 1 cent each.
The Venture and the Spark® Miles cards also come with Global Entry/Pre-Check Membership. You can reimbursed for those fees ($85 for Pre-Check or $100 for Global Entry and Pre-Check) every 4 years. Membership lasts for 5 years, so you will be able to renew before your membership lapses. Global Entry/Pre-Check make flying so much easier. I got Global Entry and Pre-Check for free for my entire family via credit cards that offer free membership!
Unlike other banks that have transfer restrictions, you can freely transfer Capital One points to other cardholders!
Capital One shocked the mileage world when they announced last November that their points would be transferable into real airline miles. You can transfer points from Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card or Spark Miles into these 12 airline programs at a 2:1.5 ratio:
- Aeromexico (SkyTeam)
- Air Canada Aeroplan (Star Alliance)
- Air France/KLM Flying Blue (SkyTeam)
- Avianca LifeMiles (Star Alliance)
- Cathay Pacific Asia Miles (OneWorld)
- Etihad (No alliance)
- EVA (Star Alliance)
- Finnair (OneWorld)
- Hainan (No alliance)
- Qantas (OneWorld)
- Qatar (OneWorld)
You can also transfer points from Capital One into these 2 airline programs at a 2:1 ratio:
- Emirates (No alliance)
- Singapore (Star Alliance)
For example you could transfer points:
- With 221K Avianca Lifemiles is enough for 34 one-way short-haul award tickets on United. It’s also more than enough for the 194K you’ll need for a round-trip first class flight in First Class from the US to Tel Aviv on Lufthansa with access to their amazing first class terminal during your connection with a Porsche transfer to your plane.
- With 220K Aeroplan miles you can book 2 round-trip business class awards between North America and 2 European cities.
- With 180K Cathay Pacific Asia Miles miles you can book 2 round-trip business class awards between North America and Europe.
- With 180K Qantas points you can fly round-trip in El Al business class between NYC and Tel Aviv with no fuel surcharges.
Capital One also has monthly transfer bonuses!
These are business cards, but you may already have a business that needs a card to keep track of expenses. For example if your name is Joe Smith and you sell items online, or if you have any other side business and want a credit card to better keep track of business expenditures you can open a business credit card for “Joe Smith” as the business name. You don’t need to file any messy government paperwork to be allowed to do that. Just be sure to select “Sole Proprietorship” as the business type and just use your social security number in the Tax Identification Number field.
It’s important to just write your own name as the business name if you are just applying for your own small business as a Sole Proprietorship that doesn’t have any business paperwork.
Will you apply for one of these limited time offers?

Capital one website says:
“Up to 200,000 Bonus Miles
Earn 50,000 bonus miles when you spend $5,000 in the first 3 months and earn 150,000 bonus miles when you spend $50,000 in the first 6 months of your account.”
Read the post?
yes I did, my brain did not. Sorry about that
Are you sure that I will still receive the 2 cent cash back on the $50000 besides the $2000 bones ?
Positive.
I just opened this miles card. You think they would match the deal for the 200,000 miles?
Nothing to lose by asking.
who could i ask to mach?
Do you know if this card offer 0% on purchase or balance transfers for 6, 12, 18, or 21 months?
Thanks in advance!
It does not.
I want to get this but just can’t see hitting $50K of spend within 6 months unless anyone has any ideas? Post or send me private message through Dans Deals Forums. Thx!
You can file for an extension with the IRS and include a large payment. You can then file your taxes shortly thereafter and get the money back as a refund. You’ll pay a fee of 1.87% through pay1040.com. Since this card doesn’t have a 0% APR deal, you’d better have enough cash available to pay it off.
If I have the spark miles and apply for spark cash, can I transfer credit line from one to the other?
I was trying to move credit from one spark business to my new spark business and they did not allow me they work differently then other banks
Both cards need to be opened for at least 6 months to allow to move credit
If I have the spark Cash Card and I got this bonus with that can I apply for the spark miles now as well?
Yes.
Will they show the Balance that I carry on my personal credit?
Yes.
Is that even if you have a separate EIN for the business ( not under your SS#)?
I have the spark cash which does show on my personal credit despite being a business card. I guess capital one is different In that aspect, my business chase and Amex cards do not.
Dan, I recently decided to go all in on chase. I have several different cards with them including the chase sapphire reserve. How does this card compare?
This doesn’t beat a Chase Quinfecta for regular spending, but it’s a sweet signup bonus and a great standalone card.
What are you gonna call it when Chase adds a 6th card that is a must have as well?
LOL.
Capitol one business cards count toward 5/24
Your welcome 😉
Why dont you ever post the 2.65% cash back from BofA premium reward card? For those seeking a cash back option, its as good or better than the Quinfecta, and probably the best on the market.
To earn 2.65% you need to have $100k+ at Bofa in “qualifying assets”
Does Capital One have a 5/24 rule?
Isn’t etihad in oneworld?
Does this offer have an expiration date (to apply)?
You just have to read the heading, not even the whole post, to find the answer.
Does Capital One have a Recon department?
If I currently have this card will I get approved for another one and will I get the bonus?
Is there an end date for this offer?
if I got this card in the past for one business, can I apply for this one now with another business and get the Bonus?
Can i get multiple free Global Entry for added authorized card users?
Can I get two cards for two businesses.
Thanks
Is it worth it to just get the card and pay someone $50,000 with PayPal. If I’m not spending that much anyways ? .029% = $1,450 + .30 fee. Minus the $3,000 value == .1.5k ??
Pay a lot of diff people or gonna get flagged by paypal and prob Capital one as well
Hi Dan, I have already the spark card under my business EIN which i opened few years ago, can i open one under my personal ss and get the bonus again ?
Is this true: The Spark Cash card is a simple cashback card. If you also have a Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card or a Spark® Miles Card you can transfer that cashback to those cards and then transfer into airline miles.
I called customer service and they don’t think you can transfer from cashback to miles. I already have the Spark Miles, thinking about getting the Spark Cash and wanted to have the option of converting it into miles, but cannot get confirmation from Capital One.
Why don’t u just open a second spark miles.
Amex, gives very high credit lines, how does Capital One compare ?
Capital One allows transfering miles to other Capital One accounts, does CapitalOne allow a 2nd user card and then to link that user’s Frequent Flyer account to your CapitalOne so that you can transfer directly to their Frequent Flyer account ?
could i apply without a business?
Will it show up on my personal credit if I have an ein number?
Dan has failed to mention that
1. Capital One will pull ALL 3 of your credit reports
2. Capital One reports ALL business cards to you personal credit (no one else does)
3. Capital One will not approve more than one card in I believe a year.
4. Many other banks consider Cap One cards to be “sub-prime”
Dan you run a great blog but when you’re clearly advertising for Cap One can you please include the not-so-good-parts of the story so everyone has the full picture. No other biz cards report to credit (unless you default of course)
Maybe take the time to read the post before criticizing?
I most certainly did write “Note that Capital One pulls and reports to all 3 of your credit reports and they report business cards on your personal credit report.”
That covers your points 1 and 2.
Your point 3 is false.
Your point 4 is false.
4. Is completely false.
I like that comeback.

Hi Dan,
I never spoke to you before or tried this venue and we appreciate your talent and great service!
I can spend the 50K over 6 months if I work with this card only and I’m at a loss as which way I should go.
I played the points game right, opening a few cards over the years and now I can’t keep my pants up from all the extra cards weighing down my wallet. HELP!
Presently, I have United Chase mileageplus Explorer (I use for private) and for business, I have a Amex Bonvoy (through you), 3 Chase INK (Business cash and Business plus), a Southwest rapid rewards (I have kids out of state) and an old Citi Card and LL Bean which I never use.
Question, to keep up my (over 800) rating, do I want to close cards after transferring credit limits and have a larger spending to max ratio?
Does my credit score do better if I have more cards and not use them or cancel them?
Is my credit score hurt if I open and close cards every year?
Do I care about $95 fees if all else adds up with the points?
Bottom line: What should I cancel and is this the card to grab?
Thanks
In general, it’s not a good idea to grab anything.
Thanks for the all of the great posts.
of the two – which would you say is the better offer?
Does the potential value of the miles outweigh the devaluation of 2:1.5 miles? In theory – if you can average $0.015 per mile – 225,000 miles = $3375…so the better deal, right? Am I missing something?
Thanks
I have the same question. What card will be profitable? I plan to sell the points.
any reconsideration phone numbers ?
What can be of help to convince them ?
Can I apply for 2 capital one cards at one shot? I know someone that did and they got rejected on both because capital one said you could only have one card in 6 months.
I got this message:
All set! Your application is complete.
Thank you for submitting an application for a Capital One credit card! Notification of your application status will typically be sent in 7 to 10 business days; however, in certain circumstances it may take up to 15 days.
typically means declined/approved?
should I call?
Does Capital One have a line to HUCA?
hi I didn’t use my name as the business name on the name of the credit card, will this pose a problem if doing as a sole proprietor without any paperwork?, thanks
I never had a capital card before. Can I apply for both business cards, the spark miles and spark cash which would net me 600000 miles after spending 100k.
You can try, though they may only approve one.
I know someone that applied for both cards and they refused them on both because they told them you can’t have two cards.
When they called up for reconsideration oh, they were told they have to wait 3 weeks.
When you say there are no restrictions on transferring to others- do you mean you can transfer the Cap1 points to others with Cap1 cards, or do you mean you can transfer them directly into someone else’s frequent flyer account? Still looking for a way to top off my kids’ Lifemiles accounts- After a trip to Israel at 50%, they are about 700 miles short of 6.5k, and I don’t think there’s a way to do it with AMEX or Chase since they’re too young to even be an authorized user.
To others with Capital One cards.
How much is it to buy the miles you need? Or what’s the miles+cash rate for redemption?
Any tips on recon?
I will be able to spend that kind of money in June/July and August, can I activate the card then and still get this offer?
Can I downgrade this card to a free card?
@Dan:
How many hard credit pulls will show up on your credit report if you apply for both miles and cash cards simultaneously?
Will 2 BM work for this?
Does Capital One typically require business paperwork?
If I have one already can I open a new one for a separate ein and company but same ss # for personal guarantee
Thanks
Dan, Can I apply for the cash card if already have one open? Or need to go with the mileage one?
Thanks!
For 6 pts/$ good for tax payment. Anyone know what kind of business qualifies? can you be a sole proprietor with no or little revenue?
Just looking for some help to decide which one to apply for – seems like the cash one is more flexible… Any thoughts on why one vs. the other?
Does it make sense to use Plasitq? they charge 2.5% and can make an easy 6%? or am I calculating wrong?
If your talking about tax payment the charge is 1.87%
will 705 score get approved?
Certainly possible.
both will expire? cash & the miles?
Both.
For someone living in Israel, would you recommend this card over the Chase Ink Preferred? I can’t really use the Chase Trifecta strategy since the other Chase cards with no annual fee and higher points have international transaction fees and the Chase Ink Preferred only has a 1% cash back. The bonus categories, etc. aren’t so practical for someone oversees. The Capital One Cash Back Business card seems like the best option- 2% cash back (currently using Capital Quicksilver for 1.5% cash back), no foreign transaction fee and a nice sign up bonus of at least $500.
What would you recommend?
I opened up both cards about 14 months ago and tried both again now – it got declined with a message/letter because “Based on your application information, cost of account transactions”. Is this related to my credit or that I previously got the bonuses or is it something else?
If they report business on personal account, will a Spark Biz application count towards Chase’s 5/24 limit?
was declined even though my score is 745 due to short credit history 1 year
any way to get around it?
Which one is rather? Spark miles or cash?
Thanks for the reminder.
Approved!
hi dan! do you think i have a chance to get approved? my scores are not bad its 745, but its my first CC to open (was only additional till now)? please share your thoughts from your your years experience thanks so much! (a very pro #dansdeals long time follower)
Off topic – but in your weekly roundup would be nice to mention the loss of Kobe. I believe you’re a big sports fan and this is a hard one to digest for any sports fan. Thank you !
Does a purchase that I use available points for counted towards my 50k?
You can earn the bonus on these cards even if you have had them previously.
Question: Even if the cards are still OPEN ?
@Dan
Any DP on this ?
Can I open more even if I have 2 still open ?
A decision will take 7-10 days, does this mean declined?
Just applied and approved. Beat the buzzer by 5 minutes!
Not sure if it worked they said the need me to send articles of incorporation? Anyone else had this?
I had this once with AMEX
Did you get approved?
Yes, like a week later I got a letter in the mail that approved
dan, where do you find that time 2:59pm? on the web only says limited time offer, i actually called earlier the rep. told me he do see its scheduled to exp. today but he said it might still be avail. till end of the day ?
still showing up on the web, means its still avail.?
Did it a couple of hours ago and it went thru
