You can register here for 30% bonus when you transfer hotel points to United miles.
- The promotion runs through 11/30. It is run by United, so you won’t see any mention of it on the hotel’s points site or during the transfer process. As long as you initiate the transfer by 11/30 you will get the bonus from United.
- United will add 30% bonus miles for all transfers from hotel programs made between 10/9-11/30.
- You can earn up to 25K bonus miles with this promotion per United account.
- Transfers from Radisson will get a 50% bonus.
United will add the bonus miles by 1/30/20.
Hotel point transfers to airlines are generally not worthwhile even with this bonus, with the exception of Marriott.
You can transfer 60K Marriott Rewards points into 27.5K United miles. United will add 30% more miles by 1/30/20, leaving you with 35,750 miles.
- You can earn Marriott points with the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bold Consumer Card, Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Consumer Card, Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX, and the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Consumer AMEX. You can view a chart comparing these 4 cards here.
Note that more than a year after the SPG merger, Marriott’s mileage conversion tool still doesn’t account for the 15K bonus Marriott points they add onto a transfer when you transfer in increments of 60K points, but those points will be added. The tool calculates 60K points as converting into 22K United miles at the 3:1.1 ratio (or 20K miles with other airlines at the 3:1 ratio) but you’ll actually get 27.5K United miles (or 25K miles with other airlines) for every 60K points transferred thanks to the 15K bonus Marriott points that will be added onto that transfer.
If you want to come close to maximizing this promotion you can transfer 180K Marriott points to United the tool will say you’ll get 66,000 United miles, but you’ll actually get 82,500 United miles due to the bonus 45K Marriott points you’ll get for making the transfer in 3 increments of 60K points. United will add 24,750 bonus miles by 1/30/20, leaving you with 107,250 miles.
If you value Marriott points at 0.65 cents each, 180K Marriott points would be worth $1,170. You would get 107,250 United miles from a transfer of 180K Marriott points. At that valuation, you’re looking at an effective cost of 1.09 cents per United mile, which is an excellent deal! Of course this depends on what value you typically get for your Marriott points and United miles.
Another possible option is with Marriott’s miles+nights travel packages. 7 nights at a category 1-4 hotel and 71.5K United miles would cost 255K Marriott points. 7 nights at a category 1-4 hotel and 135K United miles would cost 330K Marriott points.
Will you transfer points to United with this promo?

What can I do with my Hilton points?
Stay in a Hilton?
So combining the current Marriott offer with this one you can buy UA points at 1.4 cpp. Not that bad.
what if i want to close my united account, will my united miles expire? or will they stay active until i use them?

How many Raddison points would we need to transfer to maximize the bonus?
Can I do 180k Marriott to my account and then the same to my wives account, from the same Marriott account?
I’m not sure if that will work or not. But you can transfer 100K Marriott points per year to another member. If you try a mismatched transfer let us know what happens!
Hmmm… This is quite tempting. I have 450k Chase points that I’d typically use for flights, then I have 248k Marriott points. I’ll think it over the next few days.
Do names need to match exactly? Or is same address OK?
I’m not sure offhand. But you can transfer 100K Marriott points per year to another member. If you try a mismatched transfer let us know what happens!
Marriott will transfer to the United account with the same name.
Dan- are you recommending this as a good value for the Marriott Points? I have more than 180k, so I can do the maximum if that makes sense.

Dan, you may want to correct the math. 180K X 0.0065 = $1,170, not $1,117.
Indeed, thanks.
Great. Thanks for the response!
that was not a response. is was copy and paste word for word what he already mentioned in the post. not sure where how he arrives at the .65 cent Marriott point valuation though.
Can I open now a united account and then transfer the Marriott points?
Yes.
I’m a little confused by, “due to the bonus 45K Marriott points you’ll get for making the transfer in 3 increments of 60K points.” Are you saying to do three separate 60k transfers?
No, just in increments of 60K.
any info on when united is actually gonna give this bonus? #Qantas
Read the post?
Dan-
I first transferred my Marriott points to UA and then immediately thereafter registered for the UA 30% bonus. Will that impact my receiving the bonus?
That’s fine.
could raddison book the mayfair hotel london do zou have raddsion points have you ever used them
I’ve received an offer from Marriott to purchase points at 30% off, up to 100,000 (50,000 max at a time. 50,000 for $437.50; reg $625.00). Does it make sense to purchase the miles just to be able to transfer them to United?
It seems that you cannot transfer bonvoy points anymore on your own, only a customer service rep can do this

I transferred 180k miles on 10-19. Does anyone know how long it should take to post to my United account?
Transferred Marriott & Radisson on 10.17, posted on UA on 10.27. so 10 days for me. No bonus on UA yet. T&C state Bonus Miles will be credited into the member’s account on or before January 30, 2020.
It seems that if I choose to transfer from Marriot points to United for the flight and hotel package of a 7 day stay then I would not be eligible for the 30% percent bonus points. This is what it states on their site when reading the details of the “hotel + air package” combination: “Travel Packages are excluded from airline partner conversion bonus campaigns.” Dan, is that accurate? What’s your experience in that?
If I transfer my points today will I get the bonus even if it takes up to a week?
has anyone gotten their bonus miles yet? I know that the post says that United will add them by 1/30/2020 but hopefully that is a worst case scenario
FWIW, I haven’t found it difficult to get at least 1 cent value per Marriott point.
7 nights at a category 1-4 hotel and 71.5K United miles would cost 255K Marriott points. 7 nights at a category 1-4 hotel and 135K United miles would cost 330K Marriott points.
Seems to be a typo here
Not that I see.
Sorry for posting this here but can someone post the link regarding FLYING BLUE EXPIRING POINTS my points are about to expire.
Thanks
“Please correct the following and try again.
Frequent Flyer Number is not valid”
has anyone else gotten this error ? i rechecked my mileage plus number to make sure its correct and this is still coming up.
Try capitol letters, for the 2 letters.
how long until transferred points show up in united account? not the bonus points from united. i read the post:)
what about IHG points , i only have 40K , is it worth it to convert ? is there a 30% bonus on those ?
Dan, I’ve got 60k Marriott points but don’t have any specific need for United miles right now (no specific need for the Marriott points right now either). Would you still recommend doing the transfer & hold the miles instead of holding Marriott points?
Thanks!
@dan whats ur gut feeling?
How does this make sense 66000 + 45000 = 111000 ?
82,500+24,750=107,250
So why does it say 45K?
That’s the Marriott bonus, not the United bonus.
My math is 66000+45000+24750=135750
Missing something?
Yes, the 45K is Marriott, not United and is subject to the transfer ratio cutback of 3:1 with 10% bonus for Marriott transfers to United.
Trust my math please 🙂
Hi, I mistakenly did one transfer of 180k Bonvoy points (their website can get very frustrating to deal with). What do you suggest I do now, will I not get the maximum? Should I do 2 more transfers of 60k? I don’t really use my Bonvoy points, United I do however.
Thanks.
?
Too late now, but thanks anyway. All good bh.
What is the cap on how much can be transferred with a bonus?
Read the post?
@Dan- I mistakenly did not register for the bonus before performing the transfer. I realized and registered a few hours after putting in for the transfer. Do you think I will still get the bonus?
Dan, I transferred Marriott points on Friday not realizing that I need to first register with United. I registered tonight (nov.30) do you think that ok?
Thanks for reminder. I only had 42k Marriott points but I don’t stay with bonvoy much anymore, but United miles is my major currency so this will help my next upgrade.
I’ll be commuting to Honolulu regularly and have grandsons in Israel so everything helps.
Can I transfer from my Marriott account into someone else’s UA account?
You can gift Marriott points to anyone. Up to 100k a year
Is there a specific way to enter mileage plus number into marriott? I am getting error message that account number is not valid.
Yes. Make sure it’s capital letter
I’ve got 80k Marriott points but don’t have any specific need for United miles right now (no specific need for the Marriott points right now either). Would you still recommend doing the transfer & hold the miles instead of holding Marriott points?
Thanks!
I mistake transfer 180k at once what should I do now?
Will I still get it?
Please
I just got 66k + 16500 (Marriott bonus) today.
I’m still waiting for united bonus, before 1/30 iyh.
I did it in one transaction of 180k bonvoy points.
Thanks Dan and everyone else.
Transferred 60,000 Marriott according to Dan’s instruction on 11-27. As of today 12-9-19 have received “all” expected United miles, which include Marriott initial and bonus and United bonus. The completion went “much” faster than expected and I view this as a very good “deal” and value. Have a use right away, thenk you to Dan and his staff and all who participated in the conversation.
Hi Dan,
I followed your instructions, registered, transferred in 3 separate transactions of 60k each on 11/30/19. I received my Marriott bonus instantly, I’m still waiting for the United 30% bonus to show up in my account. Is there anyway of finding out if the transaction was successful and it’s just a matter of time until they add the bonus to my account ?
Just need to wait.
Anyone get the bonus yet?
