Last week we broke the news that AMEX points could be transferred to Qantas points.

Now you can get a 20% bonus when you transfer AMEX points into Qantas points!

That means you’ll get 600 Qantas points for every 500 AMEX points transferred!

Points transfer instantly.

This promo is valid for transfers through 6/30.

This is amazing for travel to Israel as Qantas has a fantastic award chart for travel on El Al.

65K AMEX points will transfer into 78K Qantas points, which is enough for a one-way business class flight between NYC and Tel Aviv in business class!

If you transfer any amount of points to Qantas, you may be targeted for additional transfer bonuses. In the past these Qantas transfer bonus were stackable with bank transfer bonuses, but Qantas has added terms excluding these from stacking. In practice, it may still be stackable, but we won’t know if it will until later this month.

If you are interested in being targeted for transfer promotions from Qantas, you should open a Qantas Frequent Flyer account today and transfer 500 AMEX points there. Opt into email subscriptions for “Exclusive offers from our program partners” under “Interests and subscriptions” and be sure to check your emails for future targeted promotions!

You may want to send over 500 AMEX points to 600 Qantas points, opt into email marketing, and wait a few days to see if you are also targeted for a Qantas transfer bonus before transferring over more points to see if you may get stacking bonuses.

If we already transferred AMEX points to Qantas to get a flight on Friday, is there anyway to take advantage of this promotion (such as cancelling our flight)?

moe

how would you compare LY business class to UA or DL business class

Y

But you still fly only UA. (Do as I say, not as I do…)

Glushtygiz

Bonus pts post instant too?

Davidthebest

How many amex points would I need for 6 round trip tickets economy with this bonus ?

moe

IIRC round trip in coach is 84K PP- therefore you would need 420k MR which will convert into 504k Qantas ( 84k*6)

Dave

How do we check Quantas award availability for ELAL?

Thanks

Need to call in?

R

Through qantas’s online reward booking search. it will show you all your options including elal availability

Israshot

If I want to add an infant, should I call qantas or LY ?

Nathan

I don’t plan on flying EL AL in the immediate future, should I still transfer to qantas to take advantage of this offer for a flight, say in 6 months?

Abe

How much would be the going rate now for MR based on this promotion and new transfer option? 170k points.
Also, how long can we expect this promotion to run? If I plan to fly in 12 months don’t es it make sense to wait for a better bonus offer?

Sam

When searching for flights from EWR to TLV, it doesn’t come up as a destination option.

LDK

can this be booked from Miami?

Israshot

From Dan:
Qantas.com isn’t able to book flights between Miami and Tel Aviv, you’ll need to call for these or use Matmid points for those.

Shia Weiss

How did you get the 65K business? I am looking for the dates 10/27 – 11/4 the cheapest I see is only economy and it’s for 105K

Moshe Eshel

One way…

ZZ

Will the merge with AA effect the Qantas ELAL alliance?

CJ

Until when is Amex running this promo?

Shlomo

Can i use my Qantas points to book for a relative with a different last name? Or are they strict like Alaska on not allowing this?

ZZ

Does it make sense to transfer points now for use in August?

Avi

Hey Dan,
Not sure if it’s for this thread but I just got a promotional email from Alaskan that says I can earn miles with ElAl starting July 1. Is that a A2 way street -can I redeem for El Al flights with Alaskan points?

Shlomo

Whats the best way to book for a relative? Can i transfer from my amex to my qantas and issue a ticket on my qantas account for someone else? Or should i get a subcard under my cousins name and somehow transfer my amex to his qantas? Is the latter even possible?

US

What’s the cancellation policy on Qantas?

Israshot

6k qantas points

Marks

System not letting me transfer. Anyone else having this issue?

Eli

trying to transfer for the past 2 days and getting an error message

friedmal

do you need to transfer the points before opting into the mailings? (If u look in the account – you are automatically opted into receiving these offers – will that nullify the odds of getting the deal?)

Sam

You can combine, for free, 2 “relatives” accounts for an award

Jan

Just got the bonus. Thanks.
Is there any way to use the points I already have with ElAl through Qantas?

Israshot

Nope

Brian

this appears to be an offer targeted only at USA-issued Amex cards. Doesn’t apply to Australian ones Anyone have any comment/insight?

Shmoe joe

With this promotion how Much Amex points do I need for economy nyc-tlv rt? And how much $ does this amount of points equal to?

Levi

2wee3

are there fees for the british airway flights?

mh

Schwab platinum = separate product and can get sign up bonus on that too

MT

Dan –
I’m a novice at earning & redeeming points for travel. However, I followed your post about El Al & Qantas teaming up. Then I read about a 20% bonus for transferring AMEX points to Qantas. Thanks to you I was able to book 3 tickets in mid-summer to & from EY. Thanks so much for your invaluable service. I cannot express enough my appreciation for all you do.
Gut Yom Tov to you & the everyone at DansDeals!

Linda weissman

Can you please help me! I can never figure out the forums. I have an old 7 night tier 4-5 certificate. I am not going anywhere for 7 nights. Max 3 or 4. What’s the best way to use this certificate? Can they cancel it and give me back points? And how do I do it. THANKS!! It expires July 31.

Coffee Guy

Which seems to be unrelated to Qantas e-mail from earlier in the month which said 15% for transfers less than 500K.

Nathan

Hey, when trying to book a flight with qantas TLV doesn’t show up as an option so what can I do?

Trying

Anyone else experiencing issues transferring the points across? Been trying for 3 days and Amex is claiming it is a Qantas issue…
