Update: DEAD!
With Daily Getaways you can purchase discounted travel packages, but you have to be really quick for the best deals. At 1pm EDT every weekday from now through 6/4 there will be a new offering. The best deals will sell out in seconds, so you need to be waiting on the page at 12:59pm and refreshing the page.
There are 3 Hertz packages that will be available to purchase at 1pm:
1. 7,500 points for $280 (3.73 cents per point)
2. 20,000 points for $560 (2.8 cents per point)
3. 25,000 points for $698 (2.79 cents per point)
These packages are advertised for specific car classes, but in fact they are just the points as listed above and can be used for any award.
Hertz just devalued their points without providing any warning and they were forced to increase the points in today’s Daily Getaway to make up for that. This can be a good deal, but don’t stock up on points for the long-term as they can always devalue again and it will likely be without notice.
Here is the Hertz award chart.
Be sure to have your Hertz Rewards number ready in order to purchase a package.
- A free week premium car rental is 3,750 points
- Package 1 would be enough for 2 weeks of rentals at a cost of $20 per day.
- Package 2 would be enough points for 5 free weeks (18,750 points) and a 1 day rental (750 points). That’s 36 rental days at a cost of $15.55 per day.
- Package 3 would be enough points for 6 free weeks (22,500 points) and a 3 day rental (2,250 points). That’s 45 rental days at a cost of $15.51 per day.
- A free rental week of a Luxury car, Minivan, or Convertible car is 7,500 points,.
- Package 1 would be enough for 1 week at a cost of $40 per day.
- Package 2 would be enough points for 2 free weeks (15,000 points) and a 3 day rental (4,500 points). That’s 17 rental days at a cost of $32.94 per day.
- Package 3 would be enough points for 3 free weeks (22,500 points) and a 1 day rental (1,500 points). That’s 22 rental days at a cost of $31.72 per day.
There are blackout dates for these awards, though you can use double points to rent during a blackout as well.
Hertz points don’t expire as long as you have earned or redeemed points on a rental every 18 months.
Will you try to buy one of these packages? Or have you lost faith in Hertz and their ability to maintain value in the program?

How does it work with credit card insurance coverage when all or part of the rental is free? If I rent for 2 days, and use points for 1 day, am I covered?
Thanx
Just paying the taxes on your card should be good enough.
I once booked a week with points and it was free no taxes

1PM: Sorry, this inventory is already on hold for other customers while they complete their order.
Wow those went fast!
Got one!
I snagged the 25,000 for $698, for me its a great value, they charge 750 points for a one day rental, which means you are getting 33 rentals for about $21 a day, in most airports the costs are way above that
can you still book with points and get your hertz platinum or pc taken into consdieration for an upgrade?
