From Papeete you can take a ferry or short flight to the beautiful island of Moorea, to the stunning resorts of Bora Bora, or to the many other islands of French Polynesia.
Unfortunately the arrival times into Papeete mean that you will have to overnight there as there are no later flights to connect to other islands in French Polynesia. That’s a shame.
Bora Bora and the Maldives are both famous for luxury resorts with incredible overwater bungalows. I’ve been to the W Maldives and the S. Regis Maldives, but I’ve yet to go to Bora Bora. That’s been partially due to how easy it is to find amazing business and first class awards to the Maldives, point deals that I’ve taken advantage of, and the ideal Maldives weather taking place during winter in the US.
IHG has 2 properties in Bora Bora, Marriott has 2 properties, and Hilton has 1 hotel there. If you can find award availability at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa you can book right into an overwater villa.
You can book stays in the Le Meridien or the S. Regis on the Marriott app for just 60K Marriott points/night, though it won’t be in an overwater villa.
IHG has hotels in Papeete and Moorea and Hilton has a Moorea property as well.
Papeete even has a Jewish community and an Orthodox shul, though unfortunately it’s not within walking distance of the Intercontinental Tahiti. There’s little information about it online, so I’d love to hear about it if you’ve been there.
Have you been to French Polynesia? Do you have plans to go in the future?

We went 8 years ago on our honeymoon.
The shul was very friendly but in more downtown area. There was a hotel they recommended very close to the shul for shabbos.
They had minyanim for shabbos and also a Mikvah.
We found some regular kosher food in the supermarkets.
The pool bar in S Regis Bora Bora had Hagen Dasz with an O-U.
How did you get from Tahiti to the St Regis? Did you fly to BOB and a boat from there? Or took a boat from Tahiti to BOB ?
is this the best points deal to book to Tahiti on mileage in coach? assuming you had plenty of mileage across all programs like aa, flying blue, cathay, Miles and more etc and wanted to travel between marc 26 and may 30th ? good shabbos
I just returned from an incredible trip to Tahiti, spent 5 days at the intercontinental Moorea, the hotel is undergoing renovations until the end of 2019, the spa was not available due to the renovations and there are limited overwater bungalows available. we had a beach bungalow that was absolutely amazing! The staff at the hotel was very friendly and for the most part accommodating. There is a small store 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel where we were able to get some fruits and vegetables, for a bigger selection as well as some American O-U products there is a “super U” supermarket (a 20 minute taxi ride) from the hotel. the hotel, views beaches and excursion options are aplenty and I would recommend this trip and the hotel
Regarding the Shul. I tried to contact them numerous times (email, phone calls etc.) however did not get a response. I brought Kosher food with me, cold cuts, vacuum packed chicken, tuna, even milk and cheese, I did not declare the food and was not stopped by the agriculture booth in the airport.
How did you find a direct flight from EWR to PPT, seems like everything I search has a stopover? Am I missing something
Our flight was with United through San Francisco. Nothing direct that I could find
