-The following chart is applicable for economy class travel only.
-Prices for US carriers are for travel from the United States to the listed destination.
-Prices for Canadian carriers are for travel to or from Canada and the listed destination.

This is a great resource. One addition that would make it one step better is to include which credit card gives free bags for each & how many bags per cardholder.
do continental card holders get 2nd free bag to israel ?
and what about au’s ?
What about El Al?
@C&C:
It’s in the exempt section.
@eli:
Only the Presidential Plus card gives 2 free bags.
@eli:
It’s a bit of YMMV, but with Continental/United I know AU’s should get free bags by showing their card to a checkin agent.
@Yehuda:
This chart is for US/Canadian carriers, but El Al also gives 1 free 50 pound bag between the US and Israel.
what does
AU’s mean?
RE:@eli:
It’s a bit of YMMV, but with Continental/United I know AU’s should get free bags by showing their card to a checkin agent.
@lora:
Additional user or Authorized user, i.e. a free secondary cardholder.
is CO changing silver elites to 1 free bag?
@YudiG:
Yes, in 2012.
Thanks for the very hard work!
thanks dan. can u plz make a chart for N. America to Israel?
“united/continental gives 1 bag free to other locations” and “Continental or United Chase cardholders get 1 free 50 lb. bag”
do cardholders get 1 more than the regular allowance and would get 2 bags on other locations (israel) or when flying to other locations the chase card doesnt add anything more than the 1 free that everyone gets?
Well, looks like US finally jumped on the bandwagon. from their website:
Updates to bag fees
We’ve updated a few of our fees. When you book on or after November 15, 2011 and travel on or after December 15, 2011, the new fees will apply.
2nd checked bag: $70 (each way/per person) for travel to/from Tel Aviv
Star Alliance Silver members will be charged for 2nd checked bag
@moshe: no, cc just gives 1st bag free and it’s free anyway
