It says “price mistake?” Not “price mistake.” He can order how many he wants. Do you think him ordering 200 or 200 people ordering 1 within the span of minutes will make a difference? ‘ Oooh. Maybe the seller won’t notice if I only order one ‘ give me a break. More likely the seller will honor the order for 200 than the order for one. At least that way he only has to pay shipping once.

Honest question: I’m a long time reader and have learned a lot about Jewish customs and culture through the comments. As someone who is not Jewish, I appreciate the dedication to faith when it comes to businesses and products worth supporting.

When it comes to a price mistake like this, does anyone here draw a moral line? I don’t understand how “buying” something at $0 is not akin to stealing. At the very least it is taking advantage of someone’s mistake at the expense of a business. Whether that business is a big conglomerate or mom and pop reseller on amazon, does it make you think twice?

If it’s a price mistake the seller will cancel the orders. If it’s not then who is to say there isn’t an unadvertised manufacturer’s rebate that’s getting you this $0.00 price without actually physically submitting a rebate.

For example Dan posted the other day about all these small appliances and other stuff which had a $10 or $12 rebate from Macy’s. The bottom line if you bought online was like $7 or so.
When I went into a physical Macy’s on Friday the price at the store was equal to the rebate bringing the price to $0.00 (so effectively I only paid sales tax)

So I don’t see how that’s taking advantage any more or less than this, but surely you wouldn’t have made such a comment if you bought those items from Macy’s.

Between you and me it is just fun to dream. It shows $12.99 or more and simply switches to $0 in your cart… pretty obvious mistake they have no need to honor. It is not stealing. You are following a regular process… plus they have the option of accepting and shipping or not. No one is hacking the site or pressing the wrong button and tricking it to change or anything like that. The question is whether it ‘feels wrong’ if you are taking advantage of a mistake. That is hard to comment on one way or another. We live in this automated mass marketing world. People ‘buy’ my attention all day with marketing gimmicks and ploys… sometimes it goes one way and sometimes another. I think when Dan posts ‘price mistake?’ it is more a headline to indicate an extreme value than a ‘hey guys… some poor dude screwed up let’s go take advantage’.
