Delta’s Skymiles are referred to as Skypesos are they devalue them frequently without notice, they don’t publish an award chart, and they have stingy saver award availability.
The JFK to Tel Aviv market is Delta’s stingiest. There is practically never any saver award space in any cabin on this flight.
Which is why I was so surprised to see so much Delta award space from JFK to Tel Aviv and back for 40K miles each way. There is also availability from all other US cities.

You can transfer miles from AMEX or Marriott/Starwood to Delta.
I searched for partner award space on AirFrance.com and there were a couple of dates available for just 25K miles each way. However most of the dates did not show up on their website. If you have luck booking over the phone with Air France Flying Blue, please post the results!
You can also get a 30% bonus when you transfer Citi ThankYou points into Flying Blue miles through 8/29. Citi point transfers require that you have a Citi Premier® Card, Prestige, or Chairman card.
For a limited time only, you can earn 60K points with the Citi Premier® Card Card by spending $4K within 3 months:
The Citi Premier® Card ’s $95 annual fee is waived for the first year. Plus you can earn 3 points per dollar on travel and gas and 2 points per dollar on dining and entertainment.
Will you book any awards to Israel on Delta?

Any benefit to booking via Virgin Atlantic? Isn’t there an MR bonus at the moment for transfers?
I called Virgin Atlantic and asked about a few dates. November 24 was available as it is on AirFrance.com, but several other dates that weren’t showing on AirFrance.com also weren’t available from Virgin Atlantic over the phone.
So it seems that Delta isn’t releasing most of this space to partners.
Can these award tickets originate in TLV? Thank you
Yes.
This is not saver award space (available to partners). It is dynamic award space at low rates. Delta has been screwing around with the award inventory they release to partners in both directions, in that economy awards have occasionally been pricing lower w DL miles while business have often been pricing MUCH higher.
40K is as low as Delta ever goes for nonstop JFK-TLV and it matches the rate from this post:
https://www.dansdeals.com/points-travel/airlines/delta/screenshots-of-all-34-delta-award-charts-that-they-dont-want-you-to-see/
There’s no way to tell what’s dynamic and what’s a saver award, but the price is the same if you have Delta miles. Some of these dates can be booked by partners as I wrote, but most can’t.
So with 80,000 Delta points we can fly non-stop JFK-TLV round trip? This is great!
Correct!
I am trying to figure out what is so great about this. I understand that Delta never releases saver award space, but still- most of the flights can be had for under $1,200, which means you aren’t even getting 1.5 cpp for your Membership Rewards points. Most people value those at more than 1.5 cpp, so why would anyone go for this?
When I saw the headline I was so excited, because Flying Blue- as everyone knows- charges only 50k round-trip and you can add on a domestic connection for no extra cost. THAT would be insane! But, if they’re somehow getting away with not releasing the space to partners (which, btw, seems like it would be a violation of their SkyTeam agreement but that’s another story…) and the only way to take advantage of this is by using 80k points… then I don’t see how this is helpful. Unless I am missing something?
People who have Delta miles.
Haha, why would anyone reading this site have any of those, after years of you convincing us (and correctly so) that they are worthless and we should credit our flights elsewhere 😉
I am half serious though- where and why do people have Delta miles?
I have to imagine even Dan would have some Delta miles. My thought is that it’s always smart to have a bit of everything for those times when you need a specific flight and a carrier isn’t releasing it’s availability to partners. And for those that live near a Delta hub having Delta miles comes in super handy at times.
Someone who obtained the Amex Delta Gold card recently would have the signup bonus.
How about business class?
I’d have written that if it was 🙂
I just fell out of my chair laughing
How much aprox are taxes & fees?
$5 for JFK-TLV.
$43 for TLV-JFK.
Should be put in the post just like you write there’s no Fuel surcharge on United flights.
Some dates weee available as well on Virgin Atlantic. But must call in. 28k after the transfer bonus
Right, but it should match what’s on AirFrance.com for 25K.
I booked for one of the available dates for 50k which is pretty good but not as good as 40k. There’s no way I can modify or cancel and rebook is there? I don’t have Delta status.
Can’t hurt to call and ask.
What the difference between “Saver Coach” and regular coach?
Less miles.
Same seats/service though?
Yes.
TY Dan
Are there taxes in top of the 80k miles?

Anything in business class?

Thanks Dan! I’m finding similar deals from the west coast as well!
I am a n00b to the points thing – is there a way that I could book these with Chase Ultimate Rewards points?
You can search on AirFrance.com for award space after making an account there and see if they have space on Delta for your dates, but you can’t transfer Chase points to Delta.
However you can transfer points to United, so be sure to check there as well.
Some great saver awards from the west coast also!
I’m seeing 40k for den-tlv for dates in April.
Wow I’m so excited now I’m able to go to israel for free!!! Thank you Dan!!!
Is this also for business class?

After 3 such questions time to bump the post saying theres no F/J availability with Saver awards.
The post is not clear about if there are taxes on Business class from Tel Aviv.
Any way to add a week-long stop over in LHR?
Thinking of going in April. Too early for me to decide. If we do book these are they refundable? Thanks!
If you need to travel with an infant under 2 years old, then it would cost only 1000 virgin atlantic miles + $5.60 sep. 11 tax for the baby & 40,000 miles + $5.60 for the adult. However if you use airfrance miles you would save miles on the adult, but there is no way to pay with miles for the baby, & it would cost you aprox. $195 to add the baby to the reservation.
Thanks, I just used my 80K delta miles (I had exactly that amount) and bought an award ticket. $49 with taxes
If you book with miles can you cancel for free within 24 hours? Also with charge for redepositing the miles? I don’t see anything on the Delta.com website to explain this
I meant also with NO charge, sorry
To Florida a few weeks ago they were charging me a fee to charge a mileage ticket. I would assume cancellations are the same
Yes you can.
I am only seeing the 40K if you book one way, but not RT. Odd.
is air france a partner with delta?
FYI- the flight date that I was looking for was further reduced from 40K miles to 35K miles so be sure to look to see if rates went down further for your dates!
Dan, There’s a reason my screen name is “Dan’s the Man” – You really are the MAN! I followed your suggestion to call Delta to see if I could be refunded miles for my JFK – TLV flight. I had originally booked it for 50K and it was showing 40K today. I checked again before I called and saw that it was now down to 35K. I asked the Delta rep about refunding me the miles as I wasn’t looking to change my date or flight. He put me on hold and said the only way I could be refunded the miles would be if I paid a $150 change/cancellation fee per ticket. I asked if I could speak to a supervisor. The supervisor said the same thing. Then I asked about if it would be possible to change to Economy Comfort (as opposed to Economy Uncomfortable 🙂 as Dan says) he said let me see what happens when I put it through. He came back and said he could do it without the fee since I’m upgrading and that I would get 5K back per ticket and pay no fee for Economy Comfort (since Economy Comfort is currently pricing as 45K). So since there are 2 of us I got back 10K miles and now have a better seat, more legroom, priority boarding, etc and got a refund of 10K miles. Thanks so much Dan. I probably wouldn’t have even called as I assumed it wouldn’t be worth it because of the change fee. Thanks for your help over the years. If not for guidance over the years I wouldn’t be to able to go on this trip to take my son to Eretz Yisrael. I’ve been able to take advantage of many of your good deals over the years!
Well done!
Wow 70k for two in comfort economy. Enjoy
90k
Can anyone recommend a good way to get to Thailand with miles? I have avios, delta, amex, and marriot.
Can you book for me and I will pay you back later? ():-)
Lol.
You know, on second thought, I don’t want to trouble cause I know you are busy, just post your credit card details here and I’ll save you the trouble. I’m kinda short on cash right now, but I’ll give your grandfather the money when I am in Chicago next. Or if that doesn’t work I can give it one of your relatives in Seattle when I am there for the Megado to complete once again my 3 alliance Elite trifecta
its not real saver, not showing on N class on GDS by doing direct accses
airfrance will must likely not have the availbility over the phone
got 9 seats on GDS

What’s deltas cancelation policy on awards?
https://www.dansdeals.com/airfare-deals/israel-flights/delta-opens-floodgates-nonstop-saver-coach-award-space-jfk-tel-aviv/#comment-1369198
Cancel fee? Change fee?
No fee within x from booking or x from departure?
I have delta miles
Good to use at some point …
Thanks Dan!
This is gonna be my first time flying direct!
How about Baggage allowance?
I see that to Israel 1st bag free. Second bag in 100$ (50 ow). Amex delta gold any help?
1st bag free. Card won’t help.
Hi Dan, I’m a newbey at this website(I know where was I) and saw this delta deal. We have been saving delta miles for years so that we can go to Israel but we were still short with both myself and my wife at 80,000 miles until this deal happened. We booked our flight and all ready to go but wanted to thank you very much!!!
Awesome, nesiah tova!
Called Flying Blue and Virgin after I saw availability on Delta’s site for the saver award and Virgin is not seeing it at all and Flying Blue quoted me 40k each way plus the 49 in taxes roundtrip. Any explanation for why Virgin wouldnt have it while Delta and FB have it and also why FB wouldn’t have it at the 25k rate if it’s a Delta Saver?
Is this award still available
Is this still available. When I looked on Delta now, the flights were 120k points!
Please direct me how to find this or when we may expect something like this again
