There’s no reason to remain subscribed to an item. You should always cancel after it ships:

If you remain subscribed, you can often be eligible for S&S items that are no longer in the program.
I’ve also gotten coupons by email as consideration for subscriptions canceled by Amazon.
Finally, you can use your subscriptions which are currently out of stock to get to five items. Most often it will get canceled for that month.
