What’s your favorite Hawaiian Island?
Want to read more about Hawaii? My love affair with Hawaii started 12 years ago when I posted and grabbed a deal paying just $87 for airfare and hotel. Since then I’ve been lucky enough to spend several months between the stunning islands, which each offer a unique and wonderful experience. You can’t go wrong with any of them, there are just 2 things is to be careful of.
1. Don’t get stuck in Honolulu. I’ve heard from too many people who spent an entire week and never left the city limits. That’s just a shame, they may as well have gone to Miami Beach. While I prefer The Big Island, Kauai, and Maui to Oahu, there is still plenty to see and experience on Oahu as long as you leave Honolulu behind.
2. Don’t try to “do” several islands in a week. If you just have 4-7 days of vacation then you should stick to one island. There will be plenty to do to keep you busy and it will allow for some time to relax. There’s no need to add the stress of interisland travel just for the sake of “doing” another island. With 9 days or more to play with, it does make sense to experience more than 1 island.
As for which island is best, read on and decide for yourself! If you ask 5 people you’ll probably get 6 different answers 😀

On a side note what’s up with ua domestic j availability?? Nothing comes up on Nyc-lax or Nyc- hnl throughout schedule….
Gremlins ate it up 🙁
I’ve tried searching multiple dates/locations on the Singapore Air website to check United availability to Hawaii – am I doing something wrong? Do you actually need to have miles in you account to check for flights? I was on this site to search: https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/ppsclub-krisflyer/flightsearch/
Search for saver award space on United.com and then call Singapore to book.
Thanks – silly question, but didn’t the post you referenced say we can book partner award travel online starting Dec 7? Has that not been implemented yet?
It should be, but that doesn’t mean it’s perfect.
Are United Elites 1K members only or all premier levels?
All Premier levels.
Why are there no standard award stays at the Marriott Wailea till August? Is it likely to open
