Once upon a time you had to book round-trip travel and stay over a Saturday night for a cheap domestic flight. Low-cost carriers like AirTran, JetBlue, and Southwest forced the traditional network carriers to start offering discounted one-way pricing.
One-way tickets have many advantages and I always book one-way travel when possible.
- It’s easier to search for cheap flight when you search for one-way tickets.
- You can fly on 2 different airlines with 2 one-ways that will often be cheaper than combining them into one ticket.
- If you miss the outbound segment of a round-trip ticket then the whole ticket is voided. By booking travel as 2 one-ways the return ticket remains valid even if you don’t take the outbound segment.
- If only one-way is affordable you can you book the other direction with miles.
International flights have remained stubborn with round-trip purchase requirements and Satuday night stays in order to get a discounted ticket.
However low-cost carriers like Norwegian and WOW offer one-way fares and the traditional network carriers are responding with their own discounted one-way fares in select markets.
El Al and United are now offering discounted one-way fares from Boston or Miami to Tel Aviv. The flights are bookable on Priceline and Orbitz.
- El Al is offering one-way flights nonstop from Boston to Tel Aviv for $394 and from Miami to Tel Aviv for $515 on most dates between December 30-March 22.
- United is offering one-way flights from Boston to Tel Aviv via Newark for $429 and from Miami to Tel Aviv via Newark for $519 on most dates between December 28-March 20.
El Al is also offering discounted one-way fares from other cities on JetBlue codeshare tickets via Boston.
Unfortunately they aren’t offering discounted one-way flights from Tel Aviv, but this can come in handy if you just need a one-way ticket or if you only have enough miles for a one-way return flight.

I love the symbolism of one-way tickets to EY.
😀
The only problem with booking two one ways if you need to change your flight you are paying for two change fees
I’ve always had success getting agents to waive one of them.
Also with some airlines, like with BA miles, cancellations can be cheaper than changes. So if you book 2 one ways you have more flexibility to cancel just one direction if needed.
are you allowed to miss your flight in Boston and catch it in Newark
Typically they void your second leg
El Al is offering one-way flights ”nonstop” from Boston to Tel Aviv for $394
Keep on reading…. And United….
Can u miss me your flight in Boston and catch It from ewr
Nope. Will be cancelled.
Will it be cancelled even if you checked in
why are they not testing from JFK. Isn’t that like the smartest “test”. Or they just don’t want to lose on the discount here ?
El Al from Boston at $380
Try Jan 21 or 23
For Upstate NY: ALB-TLV via BOS at $580 in March. Cape Air to BOS, El Al to Israel.
Aeroflot and Ukraine International offer one way fares too.
Turkish offers o/w fares, but are usually not as cheap.
I have to send my daughter to Israel..no way she’s flying Ukraine or Russian.
Statravel.com has one ways for students ewr tlv united direct $499
Dan,
Don’t you need to disclose if you get compensated for affiliate links such as Orbitz or Priceline?

Any deals from MONTREAL CANADA?
There are often good deals from euro carriers for R/T flights originating in TLV and flying to JFK. These can run in the high 400-low 500 range.
Friends just got one ways on United from LAX via SFO for about $450…should definitely add LAX. Maybe play around and see if they allow reasonable one way direct from SFO.
Just checked and United isn’t not doing the discounted one ways on the direct SFO flights, I guess for now they are just doing them from LAX on the west coast.
Hi…Does anyone have any ideas of the best way to find the lowest fares to Israel on or about June 18, 2018? Needing about 50 seats. HELP!
Returning on or about June 27,2018
Wonder if it’s worth it to do a flight from NYC to Boston to then avoid a stopover in europe. Any tried pricing that?
A possible problem with 2 one way tickets:
If there is an issue with the outbound leg that airline will likely make adjustments for both legs. However, if you have 2 one way tickets then the return leg may not be adjusted, especially if it’s another airline.
Best credit card for yearly travel to israel from nyc?
