Update: The 75K offer is now dead!

  • The Citi AAdvantage Platinum Consumer Mastercard is offering 60K bonus AA miles for spending $3,000 within 3 months.
  • The Citi AAdvantage Platinum Business Mastercard is offering 60K bonus AA miles for spending $3,000 within 3 months.

You can view credit card offers by hovering over the “Credit Cards” tab. You can click on “Top Credit Card Offers“ and then hover over “Card Type” to find card offers from the bank you’re looking for.

You can receive the bonus on the consumer cards if you haven’t opened or closed a consumer Citi AA card within the past 24 months. You can receive the bonus on the business card if you haven’t opened or closed a business Citi AA card within the past 24 months. You can receive the bonus if you have an open Citi AA consumer or business card that is older than 24 months.

Citi AAdvantage Executive Consumer Mastercard:

  • Limited time offer: 75K bonus AA miles for spending $7,500 within 3 months.
  • This is the highest bonus since the backdoor 100K offer for spending $10,000 in 2014.
  • Aside from the signup bonus, the main benefit on this card is the AA lounge access.
  • The primary cardholder can bring their entire family or 2 guests into Admirals Clubs and partner airline lounges, regardless of the airline you’re flying on.
  • You can add up to 10 additional cardholders for free. Each of your additional cardholders can also bring their entire family or 2 guests into Admirals Clubs, regardless of the airline you’re flying on. The only difference is that authorized users won’t have a “full” Admirals Club membership, so they won’t be able to access partner airline lounges.
  • The card also offers 10,000 Elite Qualifying Miles for spending $40K annually.
  • Additionally, it offers a free checked bag for the primary member and up to 8 companions. You’ll also get priority checkin, security, and boarding. And you’ll get 25% off in-flight food, beverages, and headsets.
  • There are no foreign transaction fees with the card.
  • The card will also refund Pre-Check or Global Entry membership fees for the primary member. Those will become even more critical as the TSA continues to add annoyances for non Pre-Check members. They really make the flying experience much less stressful.

Cardholders can save up to 7.5K off round-trip awards to rotating destinations. With the card, discounted short-haul awards are just 6.5K miles one-way. After spending $7,500 on the card you’ll have at least 82.5K miles, or enough for more than 12 short-haul flights.

The card carries a $450 annual fee, though it’s refundable if you close it within 37 days of that being billed. Sometimes the fee is billed on the first statement, sometimes its on the second statement. That fee is less than what American charges for lounge access and it allows you to give lounge memberships to up to 10 additional cardholders for free.

Citi AAdvantage Platinum Consumer and Business Mastercards:

  • Both of these cards are offering 60K miles for spending $3,000 within 3 months for a limited time only.
  • Both of these cards have their $95 annual fee waived for the first year.
  • Both of these cards offer a free checked bag for the primary member and up to 4 companions. You’ll also get priority boarding. And you’ll get 25% off in-flight food, beverages, and headsets.
  • Both cards have no foreign transaction fees.
  • Cardholders of either card can save up to 7.5K off round-trip awards to rotating destinations. With the card, discounted short-haul awards are just 6.5K miles one-way.
  • The consumer card offers 10% of the miles that you redeem back automatically, up to 10K miles/year.
  • The business card offers a $99 domestic companion certificate if you spend $30K/year.

It’s worth noting that American now has some of the worst saver award space in the industry. So why should you collect their miles?

Despite the dearth of American award space and the fuel surcharges to redeem miles for travel on British Airways, there are still good uses of their miles. You’ll have to hunt for them as many partner awards are only bookable over the phone, such as Air Tahiti Nui, Cathay Pacific, Etihad, JAL, Qatar, and more. Perhaps that’s to our own benefit as the inability to book those on AA.com means that availability is good.

For example I used 105K American miles (after the 10K rebate from the AA consumer card) in March to fly in an apartment on Etihad Shower Class from the Maldives to Cleveland via Abu Dhabi and JFK. AA’s US call center was unable to find the award space, but AA’s Australia call center was able to find the first class award space that I had located on Etihad’s website.

Though because of the #ElectronicsBan, I was stuck having to take pictures with my GoPro:

And my phone:

The Etihad first class apartment is an awesome suite with an insane amount of space and there’s a shower to boot. But I’ve flown first class on AA partner Cathay Pacific to Vancouver and Hong Kong several times and still think that they offer the most comfortable seat, bed, bedding, and Pajamas in the sky:

Will you be applying for an Executive AA card before the 75K bonus goes away?

Sounds off in the comments.

Hi if I opened the AA card 3 Months ago and got 60k bonus will they match this offer?

Sarah Steinmetz

I just openned a platinum select, so i guess I can’t apply (correct?). But my husband has a gold card that is more than 24 months old. So he should just charge $7,500 within 3 months and he will qualify or does he have to open this specific card (new)?

SBP

I’m not eligible because I just signed up for the 60k offer
If I have my wife sign up, can I have her bonus miles come directly to my AA account?

Does it give access to all BA lounges worldwide?

Just wondering

Any reason to get it just for the admirals club? Already have Amex platinum, and most airports that have an admirals club will also have some Amex lounge
