You can now bring electronics onboard when flying on Turkish or on any of the Middle East Big 3 carriers, Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar.
The ban is still in effect for EgyptAir, Kuwait Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian, and Saudia, though those will likely be listed within the next couple of weeks.
I think I’ve said enough about the ridiculousness of how the bans were implemented in the related posts above, so I’m quite happy to see them go…

The problem is how it was implemented without logic.
Any terrorist could just connect from Dubai to the US via Milan and bring the electronics onboard.
And Abu Dhabi was included despite having US customs working in their airport.
Plus there was no plan for lithium fires in the cargo hold.
There’s a good reason it’s going away now. That threat is legit, but the implementation was very poor.
I think you’ve come around Danny boy! Now you’re at least acknowledging the threat. Bottom line, it’s foolish to criticize the ban without knowing all the facts. Perhaps Milan has different security measures than Dubai or Abu Dhabi? We just dont know. I’m sorry that you were forced to enjoy the airline entertainment system and not have access to your laptop. Lay off the soapbox on security measures.

Saudia, for one, has announced that they’re in process of implementing various additional security measures the US requested, and they even gave a tentative date in July (I forget when) for the ban to lift. I agree with Dan–the threat may be legitimate, but the way to address it is better scanning of the threatened items, not bizarre logistical rules.
