-Flights connect in Istanbul.

-Turkish is a very highly rated airline. Thousands of religious Jews have taken their flights without issues and report that service has been far superior to other airlines. Turkish has an award winning Star Alliance lounge in Istanbul. They operate a whopping 9 flights a day between Istanbul and Tel Aviv.

-Turkish offers freshly made kosher meals from Istanbul and Tel Aviv in all classes and they are highly regarded as well. They are made in Turkey and are kosher supervised by the OK.

-Flights from Istanbul to JFK are subject to the electronics ban. You will have to check electronics larger than a cell phone at the Istanbul boarding gate and you’ll get them back after the flight.

Are baby’s free?

@Dan:

Your statement saying “-Turkish offers freshly made kosher meals in all classes and they are highly regarded as well. They are made in Turkey and are kosher supervised by the OK.” is only true on flights originating in Turkey or in TLV. Flights out of NYC get some US based frozen-reheated KSML.

ExGingi

@Dan.

I was asked at TLV if I have any Laptop/iPad etc. and was asked to check it in (I guess to avoid the hassle at IST, since my bags were checked from TLV through to NYC).

Sam

Can I buy this and upgrade to business either in points or cash?

Reuvenhunt

Are these fares available if I use hybrid points? Would they still be cancelable within 24 hours?

Moish

Note: Turkish does not have a 24 hour cancellation policy.
I learned this the hard way.

Mikey

C’mmon, just last year this time there was an attack at the airport in Istanbul.
My son was in IST a week before the attack and I’m still not settled.

isaac

the base price is $789. They add $422 for taxes, bringing the total to over $1200.

Is this still such a great deal?

Jerry

Is there business class on the flight and are there direct flights to Israel with no stop overs?

Avii

Is Turkish a better option than Royal Jordian?

Dan's the Man

@Avii:
Yes. Turkish has a lot more flight both from JFK and from TLV and therefore shorter connections and more options if things go wrong (miss flight, mechanical prob, weather prob). Royal Jordanian doesn’t even fly everyday from JFK.

Anonymous

@Mikey: You sent him last year before the attack at IST. There is more security at the airport now (b/c of the attack) and now you don’t want to send him with more security than you did last year? I understand your concerns but if don’t go to anyplace that’s had a terror attack you won’t be able to A LOT of places!

Different Dan

Awesome deal! Anyone have any problems making the connecting flight with the short (1:20) layover?

Alexander

I flew once with the 1:20 layover and had no problem connecting. However, like with any flights, if there is a rainstorm at JFK and flight is delayed 2 hours……

I recently flew Turkish Airlines before Pesach. The plane was delayed at JFK for three hours and we would have missed our connecting flight. However when we got to Istanbul somebody was waiting for us with new boarding passes and we were put on the next flight out. It was very organized and we were very pleased with the service

Tami

What are the B-class & 1st – class tickets going for?

MJ

@Mikey:

I was at IST last year less than 24 hours before the attacks. I returned to IST and the rest of Turkey for 3 weeks last month and I’m planning another trip next year. Why are you still unsettled? By your logic, we shouldn’t even be going to TLV or Eretz Yisrael.

oisher

Just flew Turkish to Israel and layed over in IST.

Fabulous airline (Business Class far superior to LY) and service was impeccable, price for J class bit more than half the equivalent LY fare. Entertainment system is very sophisticated – the remote has it’s own 4″ screen, so you can watch a movie on the big screen and keep up to date with the airline nose/undercarriage camera views or route at the same time. Or vice a versa. They give you Denon noise cancelling headphones (on loan) which are very good. etc. etc.

The TK lounge in IST is probably one of the best lounges in the world. Includes mountains of fruit [apples, oranges, APRICOTS] and drinks (kosher fare) and has a golf range, remote racing car pista, arcade games, small cinema, locker for hand luggage, showers etc. etc. Was very impressed.

First time I flew Turkish and would do it again!
