-Always search for 1 seat and then work your way up to the number of seats you need in order to book as many seats on sale as you can.
-Flights are available for outbound on most dates from now through May 12. You can return through January 2018.
-Flights connect in Chicago, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington DC.
-It can definitely make sense to use miles or buy a flight to Toronto for this great fare. A BA Avios flight from Chicago, LGA, or JFK to Toronto is 7.5K miles each way in coach 15K in first class. A United flight from Chicago or Newark to Toronto is 10K miles each way.
You do need to pick up the first leg of the journey in Toronto, though you can end your trip in Chicago, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington DC as your bags must be picked up there and rechecked to your final destination.
-The San Francisco flights are still operated by the Queen of the Skies in case you want to fly in the upper deck before it goes away:
-If you fly via Chicago you’ll be able to access the new Polaris lounge, which is probably the nicest lounge you’ll find in the US.
-United doesn’t have Polaris seats installed on these routes, but you will get the new Saks’ Polaris bedding and Pajamas on these flights.
-If you credit a Toronto-Shanghai flight via San Francisco to Air Canada Aeroplan you’ll earn 25,230 miles thanks to 150% earnings for this United P class fare. If you credit to United you would earn 8,140 miles.
These fares are not on sale with miles, but you can pay for the ticket with “hybrid points” if you have AMEX or Chase points and a Business Platinum or Sapphire Reserve card.
Using AMEX points:
If you have The Enhanced Business Platinum Card® from American Express OPEN you can get a 50% rebate on the airline of your choice.
The 50% rebate will go back into your account the day after redeeming points.
You can login to your account and redeem AMEX points for travel here.
A $1,717.82 flight will be 171,782 points and you would get a 50% rebate making the effective cost just 85,891 points, a value of 2 cents per point. That includes all taxes and you can still earn 25K Air Canada Aeroplan miles for flying!
Using Chase points:
If you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve® card you can redeem points for 1.5 cents each towards travel.
A $1,717.82 flight flight will be 114,521 points. That includes all taxes and you can still earn 25K Air Canada Aeroplan miles for flying!

How many miles would these fares earn with ANA?
@ANA Fan:
Only 70% of flown miles, not a good place for a United P fare.
Dan, have you been to Sanghai?
If I purchase the flight using Ultimate reward points, will I still get credited PQM towards my United status?
