From my inbox:
“Your site is awesome, but maybe you can post less deals with mail in rebates, I will never do a deal with a rebate because I never wind up getting anything!.”
1st off, thanks, and be sure to remember to visit our sponsors!
As far as rebates go, the reason they exist, and the reason you can get a product for below wholesale costs, is because most people don’t submit them within the allowed time-frames, and don’t stay on top of them.
There’s a couple of key steps to follow when it comes to mail-in rebates.
1. Always make a copy of the UPC, sales receipt, and the rebate form!
2. Have a file on your computer of rebates you sent in, and delete the rebates as they come in.
3. If you haven’t received the rebate within the stated time, call the number on the rebate form to ask what’s going on, often all they require is a fax of the info you copied to send you out a check.
If the company is being stubborn about giving a rebate, get your state’s attorney general involved!
The last time i complained to my state’s attorney general i had my rebate and an apology letter within a week!
