After gearing up, tandem skydives kick off with a briefing from an instructor; next, the skydiver boards the plane and ascends before being securely attached to the instructor for the free fall, parachute flight, and landing. Upon exiting the plane, the tandem pair reaches speeds of up to 120 mph during the free fall, followed by a five- to seven-minute parachute flight, during which the instructor and skydiver share dual controls.
