If you have a JetBlue Plus World Elite Mastercard you always get free checked bags and a 10% points rebate, but in this case you’ll get a 25% rebate. The card comes with a 30K signup bonus for spending $1,000 in 90 days. It has a $99 annual fee but it also comes with 5,000 bonus points (5,500 after the rebate) every year that pretty much covers the cost of the card.
What’s are JetBlue points worth? It all depends on the flights you take, but here are 3 examples:
1. JFK-Chicago on 5/24 is $63.10 or 3.7K points+$5.60. That’s normally a value of 1.55 cents per point (63.10-5.60/3,700). With the 15% rebate you’ll pay 3,145 points after getting back back 555 points and the value will be 1.83 cents per point (63.10-5.60/3,145). With a 25% rebate you’ll pay 2,775 points after getting back 925 points and the value will be 2.07 cents per point (63.10-5.60/2,775).
2. JFK-Los Angeles on 5/29 is $148.10 or 10K points+$5.60. That’s a value of 1.425 cents per point (148.10-5.60/10,000). With the 15% rebate you’ll pay 8,500 points after getting back back 1,500 points and the value will be 1.68 cents per point (148.10-5.60/8,500). With a 25% rebate you’ll pay 7,500 points after getting back 2,500 points and the value will be 1.9 cents per point (148.10-5.60/7,500).
3. JFK-Fort Lauderdale on 5/31 is $85.10 or 5.3K points+$5.60. That’s a value of 1.5 cents per point (85.10-5.60/5,300). With the 15% rebate you’ll pay 4,505 points after getting back back 795 points and the value will be 1.76 cents per point (85.10-5.60/4,505). With a 25% rebate you’ll pay 3,975 points after getting back 1,325 points and the value will be 2 cents per point (85.10-5.60/3,975).
