Chase Consumer Offer Linky
-You are able to open a consumer account online by using the unique coupon code generated when you click on the offer links above. Just generate your own coupon code, and apply for a checking account online. The “Chase checking” account is free with 5 debit transactions in a month. The “Chase better banking” account is free with a $1,500 balance. Chase automatically located my Continental mileage number
-Chase/Continental Miles customer service line: 877-292-4273
-With a Continental debit card you also get a free piece of checked luggage for yourself and anyone else on your itinerary when you fly Continental. See Dansdeals.com/baggage for all baggage fees and exemptions.
-The 25,000 mile consumer offer requires making 5 purchases on a Continental debit card which carries a $25 annual fee. The card earns 1 mile for every 2 dollars spent.
-The 25,000 mile business offer requires funding the account with $500 and making a purchase on a Continental debit card which carries a $65 annual fee. The card earns 1 mile for every dollar spent.
-The terms state that you can get the miles for each offer once per calendar year.
-You enter the coupon code on the page right after choosing an account and clicking “Open now.”
-Be sure to also request the $25 Continental debit card when you apply online.
-If you fund the account online via a credit card (up to $500) it may be counted as a cash advance.
-You must fund the account with a minimum of $100 of new funds.
-There is no need to open a savings account, you can however fund it with another $500 if you choose to open one.
-Only the consumer offer accepted the code for me online, the business offer did not work with the code online-you’ll have to go in a branch for that one.
-On an account that I opened last year 22,500 miles posted within a few weeks of making the 5 debit purchases, and the remaining 2,500 miles took a of couple months.
-You need to spend at least $2 on the card in 1 month within 60 days of opening the account to trigger the entire 25,000 mile bonus.
-25,000 miles is enough for a free domestic ticket (only 20,000 miles are needed for short-haul flights under 1,500 RT miles, like New York-Chicago) and is 33% of the way towards a free ticket to Israel (75,000 miles)

nowadays both cost $85
Do you get 25,000 miles a year for just $25 a year?
@hocker:
?????
@Adam:
You get 25,000 miles for signing up. The cost of the Continental debit card is $25/year.
You can downgrade the card to a free debit card after you get the miles.
“This bonus mile offer is not available to customers with an existing Chase checking account.”
I was denied the business account due to this annoying little phrase. How do you argue your way around this one?
Stupid question but how do you make a debit card purchase without entering your pin
@chris:
Looks like that phrasing is new…never had that issue in the past.
Of course you can always just close your existing account (after the miles post of course) but if you do so they may charge a $25 early-closure fee if it’s within 90 or 180 days depending on the state.
@mike:
Just hit credit!
Easiest way to make 5 tiny purchases is at a gas station.
but a person shouldnt make 5 tiny purchases that doesnt add up to at least $2 until after they have received their Miles. once aperson gets their miles then any 5 purchases will be OK no matter how little they add up
@steve2:
Correct, as explained in the post.
What do you think of making purchases using paypal to pay yourself at a different e-mail address?
@Miguel:
Interesting, but like I said you can always just close your current account and reopen.
i already open one but get rud of it bcs of the fee
can i repoen a new one
Is 25k miles enough for a round trip from NY to Florida?
@chuchem:
I don’t see why not.
@adamk:
Yes.
and it’s good with either the 5 debit transactions and no need for the direct deposit sign up?
@Dan:
Does chase approve existing customers for credit easier than one that’s not a customer? The reason I ask is because I have the 2 checking accounts and want to close them. I want to apply for the chase saphire card. Do you think I should wait to close the checking until I apply for the credit card? Or it doesn’t make a diference? Thanks dan.
@adamk:
Correct, no need for direct deposit.
@wheeler dealer:
It’s definitely possible.
Apply today for the Sapphire card and close the checking accounts a couple days afterward.
Does anyone know if there’s an age limit on this? Meaning, can accts be opened for kids too? thanks
It was extended till September 30. Thanks Dan I did it and got 25k already
I did a business a week ago so I’m still waiting!
@shell:
Thanks for the heads up!
I just printed the coupon and it says that it expires September 30
It seems like the minimum opening amount went down to $25. Am I missing something?
What happens if I opened an acount and dont have the miles acount?
@Michael:
I think we’ve already established that.
@Michael:
Looks like it went down.
@jon:
They’ll open a new CO mileage account for you.
I already have Chase accounts, but I was able to open a new account no problem!! I got the 25,000.Thank u!!
@Dan/Ctownbochur: i think the offer was extended till september 30,2010
Do you need to make 5 purchases every month or a one shot deal? And do the 5 purchases need to be done in a specific amunt of time
is there any way to combine continental accounts with two different names?
did they only extend the personal account and not the business promos?
HI dan, first of all i got 22,500 miles in my account, when do the other 2,500 come in? second of all, how do i downgrade my account to regular debit, and what does that change? I already got the 25 dollar charge
Do you need social security to get the full 25000? I’m only on a student visa, an haven’t arranged a social
@dan:
I already did this deal in january. I closed the accounts in july can I do it again? Will I be eligible for another 25k?
i opened the account and gave them my fathers onepass # and they put 22500 in his but opened anew account for me with the remaining 2500 and it cost a fortune to transfer, is their anywy to fight this. thanx
Opened mine in March… Did not yet receive the miles.. Is this normal?
Is there anyway to do this over the phone?
I signed up for this, made my 5 purchases and am still waiting on my miles. Its been over a month now.
IM SO CONFUSED! IS THERE A WAY TO GET THE 25K AND AVOID THE ANNUAL FEES? THANKS DAN- KEEP IT UP!
if you do direct deposit (ACH) do you still need to do the 5 transactions monthly?
Dan can this deal be combined w/ a prior deal u posted that awarded 30k miles for opening Continental MasterCard? So you would get a total of 55k between the two?!?
@aussie: no you do not need a social its good with a student visa
@yaakov:
Call the number I wrote about in the post.
even if i already closed the account?
Looks like its dead it doesn’t seem like its extended this time.
i just tried to open one and it is giving me 15,000 miles for it
i printed the sept 30th one and went to bank on sept 27th. they told me it was already used….Dan, does this make sense? i need 25k more and i have 2 round trip tickets to israel. i neeeed this Dan. talk to me!
On the consumer account coupon it states that the debit card gives you 1 mile per 1 dollar spent (not like you state 1 point for every 2 dollars spent)
@Ariman:
Print out a new coupon with a new code.
@Anonymous:
That’s only if you get the more expensive card.
How soon do you get the miles?
Glad they extended this offer again – Missed out by 1 day on the last extention. I have a couple of Chase Checking accounts due to previous cash offers they have made before. I read the comments, but didn’t see an exact answer. Question: Will I be able to move my funds from my Checking to Savings accounts, close the checking accounts, and use this promo to open a new account? I noticed that on the Personal Checking, it said you can’t use the promo if you have an existing checking account, but this was not stated on the Business Checking offer. Could I open a new personal account, and then hit them with the promotion for the Business Checking offer?
Thanks Dan!
Phillip.
You need net-new-funds. So, close your existing checking account. Take cash (not a check). Go back a couple of days later and open a new personal checking account.
Then, a couple of days later, do the business account. If you get an EIN, it makes it cleaner. but you can tell them that you are self-employed.
BTW, the miles seem to post only monthly. If you didn’t already have a OnePass acct, it may have taken a cycle to set up. And, depending on your account cycle and the OnePass cycle, it might be a while. The last 2500 miles do seem to take the longest.
If you want to do this and don’t have a OnePass acct, go to OnePass.com to set up your account before you do the Chase account.
does ACH work as Direct Deposit with chase?
(in place of 5 monthly debit card swipes)
@Dan:
I already did this offer in jan of this year. Can I do it again? I already closed the accounts.
i still have an account open(from january ) can i still close now and open a new account?
Dan I was just in the bank last wk I closed my old checking accounts but left the saving open & when I came in two days later to reopen my checking accounts they said I’m bot eligible for the promotion what an I doing wrong should I open one online tonight b4 its to late? Do u think they will extend the promo?
extended till dec 31st!
regarding chase ACH i would point out that even if ACH does work, notice the terms say:
“The direct deposit qualifier changes to at least one direct deposit of $500 or more and takes effect with the statement periods beginning February 8, 2011.”
@ dan
I think the AA 75k offer has been renewed as welltill 2/28/11 with a few changes can you look into this for us?
‘With a Continental debit card you also get a free piece of checked luggage for yourself and anyone else on your itinerary when you fly Continental.’.
Do you have to show your debit card in airport or they know it from their system?
@Karen:
It should be in their system, but if it isn’t you just need to show it at the airport.
@Dan/Ctownbochur:
if i buy my flight with another credit card can i still get the free bag by showing my continental debit card at the airport?
@Mesh:
Yes.
I had this account and closed it and tried again now, getting error,
unable to process your information. The Coupon Code you entered has already been redeemed. To continue your application without the Coupon Code, click “Proceed Without Coupon Code.”
Is that because I had an account or did I make an error in applying?
Im sure this has already been mentioned but Ive not come across it.
Simple question: I have chase accounts for years already, never been much into continental miles but just did the credit card, so looking into this, can I get this promotion by just opening another account and linking to my prior accounts, or do I have to be a brand new customer?
Thanks
“This bonus mile offer is not available to customers with an existing Chase checking account. Limit one personal checking account-related reward per customer,” – T&C
If you already have a chase checking account open, no, you aren’t eligible for a bonus. You’ll need to close it (them) first and then apply. Or if you’ve already received a checking bonus, it won’t matter if you close them, you are not eligible for more than one bonus per calendar year.
@jjoyce: DAN it says on the business t&c the following This bonus mile offer is not available to customers with an existing Chase checking account. Limit one BUSINESS checking account-related premium per customer per calendar year.
DOES THIS MEAN THAT YOU MAY GET 2 BONUSES A YEAR ONE FROM A PERSONAL ACCOUNT AND ONE FROM A BUSINESS ACCOUNT AS LONG AS WHEN YOU APPLY FOR ONE YOU HAD ALREADY CANCELED THE OTHER ACCOUNT? IT SEEMS LIKE BOTH ACCOUNTS CANT BE OPENED AT THE SAME TIME.
I GOT THE PREFERRED CARD AND ITS NOT FREE THE 1ST YEAR? ITS 65 DOLLARS !!
Does Chase do a hard credit inquiry to open these checking accounts?
Hi
Does any1 know if i have a chase biz account can i open a personal and get the millage??
thanks

Hi, I opened 2 accounts a few months ago, for me and my husband. We each did the 5 purchases, and got the points!My husband got the 25,000, but I actually got 40,000 -not sure how that happened but not complaining!
My question is, I’ve been getting charged 6$ a month since then for not using the card. I tried to cancel it and the bank rep said I will loose my points, if I dont leave the account open for at least 6 months. Is that true??? I dont feel like doing these swipes every month, I would like to just cancel but dont want to loose my points! Thank u!!
@st:
have you tried making direct deposit into your account (via ACH)?
no I havent tried direct deposit, but is that neccasary? Will I loose my points if I cancel the accounts? Or do i really need to keep them open for at least 6 months and do 5 transactions each month to avoid the fees? thanks
@st:
I highly doubt they would take back the miles. There is a fee for closing within 6 months though that will probably be around the fee for not making 5 transaction per month.
they are saying that i used this coupon code already in the past.. (i probably did..) r there anymore out there?
how do i get the promo code
@Dan/Ctownbochur: I noticed that in the post you wrote that there is a 25 dollar fee for consumer accounts. For some reason all my family members and I got charged 65 dollars…….What do you think?
Will the offer be extended?
is this still on
@bob: If you read the small print, it says….
The Chase Continental Airlines Preferred Debit Card has an annual fee of $65 per checking account. If you choose the lower fee option of $25 with the Chase Continental Airlines Debit Card, you earn 1 mile for every $2 in qualifying purchases. Customers choosing the lower fee option will still receive the second 15,000 bonus mile award after the first qualifying purchase, limit one bonus mile award per customer, per calendar year.
Hi Dan,
I just came across it and though you might be interested in posting this.
https://www.chase.com/ccp/index.jsp?pg_name=ccpmapp/smallbusiness/shared/page/147649_bb_get200&MSC=IQ30067781
Can you open more then one account?
Also does closing and reopening checking accounts effect your credit?
Is this deal still on? Could you post a link? Thanks
PLEASE HELP.
Looking for someone who signed up for the Chase Continental Debit Mastercard deal that gives 25,000 Continental Airline miles.
Does anyone have a coupon code/number/etc??? I signed up for this deal and instead of getting 15,000 + 10,000 they gave me 12,500 + 2,500. Chase bank says they need the offer code to even try to change anything, and very conveniently do not have it themselves. Continental says any problems needs to be handled through Chase. I hope somebody can help me out…
@neem: same problem here! DAN PLZ HELP!!!
Does anyone still have a copy of this promotion?
Only 10,000 posted on my account and when i called them up they said “the records only show that i’m supposed to get 10k”.
My email is tinif770@gmail.com
Thanks,
“On an account that I opened last year 22,500 miles posted within a few weeks of making the 5 debit purchases, and the remaining 2,500 miles took a of couple months.”
I had just the opposite happen. I opened the account on December 31st. 2,500 miles posted last week from Chase. The other 22,500 have yet to post.
How long does it take?
hey i did this back in june made only 1 purchase (over$2) and forgot about it and i never got ANY miles do you think making the other 4 purchases would get me the miles and they have been charging me $12 a month!!
any suggestions
and i put in $1500 b/c i rememeber something being posted about that
@m paul:
You had to make 5 purchases.
Now it’s too late.
