I see a lot about buying gift cards on this site. What do you do with all of them? Do you really use all the gift cards or is there a way to cash them in somehow?

Just spent 45 minutes on the phone being transferred between ebay and paypal to ultimately find out that there is a monthly $500 gift card limit UNLESS I link my bank account to paypal. The customer service rep was unable to provide a reason.

I remember back when I used to have a bank account linked to paypal, they would always force it as the default payment option in order to cut out the credit card company – that is why I unlinked the account in the first place, to not have to hassle with changing my payment setting every single time I bought something. Now that Paypal and ebay are separate entities, I can’t wait until ebay switches to a more honest payment processor so that I can be done with Paypal once and for all.

@Goldie: No ways to liquidate these… you spend them or flip them to gift card exchange dealers. Normally numbers don’t add up but if you bought the ebay giftcards at a discount (often 10 to 15%) and wanting to liquidate that, buying these giftcards at discount and flipping would be a way to do that. Or if you have ebuy bucks waiting to expire at the end of month, this would be a chance. and once a while, this kind of sale aligns with targeted ebay bucks promotion where you get 8-10% back you can actually make small profit flipping these. I typically look for gas giftcards as those are most valuable ones in the giftcard exchange market.

interesting i bought a 50 dollar jcpenny gift card and received a 60 dollar worth gift plus 10 dollars on ebay making it 24 percent off
