Qantas first class awards are notoriously tough to find. Finding 2 less than 11 months in advance is exceedingly rare and booking more than 11 months out with AA miles requires a workaround. But if you can travel on a whim there are 2 seats above their A380 at 11:55PM nonstop from Los Angeles to Sydney.
They’ll set you back 72.5K AA miles each (less than the miles you can get from opening an AA Executive card), but they’re considered among the best first class seats in the sky. I flew Qantas First Class from Hong Kong to Melbourne and back as part of my 2010 round-the-world award, but hope to be able to try direct on their A380 one day. Alas I’m currently onboard a flight to Miami, so tonight’s not the night for me…

Planning another seminar in Miami ? I missed the last one because of a trip I was on that I put together learning from your site.
Regarding the 355/330 day rule. Do qantas and BA still charge high YQ, even after virgin Australia have removed it from theirs, how much would qantas charge now using their own miles?
Qantas never crashed
