-Bookable on United.com
Promo rules:
-Award travel on United from the US49/Canada to Brazil or Chile is normally 60K miles round-trip.
With this discount it will be 45K miles if both dates fall within the promotion or 52.5K miles if one date falls within the promotion. In other words even if you return after the promotion ends you can still get the discounted 52.5K rate as long as you depart by 11/30.
-Book and travel by 11/30.
-Travel only valid on United and in coach. This effectively limits the promotion for travel to Santiago, Sao Paulo, or Rio de Janeiro.
-You are allowed to have an open jaw, so you can fly into Rio and back from Sao Paulo or Santiago for 45K miles for example.
Flying between the cities with Avios for an open-jaw award:
Sao Paulo and Rio both have great kosher restaurant options. Brazil’s currency is at 10 year low versus the dollar, making this a great time visit.
-From Sao Paulo you can fly nonstop to Iguazu Falls for just 4.5K BA Avios to experience the most awe-inspiring waterfalls in the world. Rio to Iguazu nonstop is 7.5K BA Avios.
-From Sao Paulo you can fly nonstop to Rio for just 4.5K BA Avios to experience one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
-From Sao Paulo or Rio you can fly nonstop to Santiago for just 10K BA Avios.
-From Santiago you can hop over to Easter Island for 12.5K BA Avios in coach or 25K in business on LAN. LAN even continues on from Easter Island to Papeete, home base for the stunning islands of Moorea and Bora Bora, for another 12.5K Avios.
Visas:
-Brazil charges a $160 reciprocity fee for American citizens that don’t hold other citizenship. The visa lasts for 10 years.
-Chile no longer charges a fee for Americans.
Earning BA and United miles with their credit cards:
-The Chase BA card offers 50K Avios for signing up with the annual fee waived for the first year for applications received by 08/31.
-The Chase United card offers 35,000 miles for signing up and adding a free additional user with the annual fee waived for the first year. The United card also offers significantly expanded saver award availability, priority boarding, and free checked baggage.

When is this promotion over?
I agree with kosher restaurants in S.Paulo.
Rio has 1 meat and 1 milky restaurant with questionable quality.
@elana:
Read the post.
@Israel:
I was blown away by the quality of the food in the dairy restaurant in Rio.
And I was very happy with the meat as well.
any ideas on when the united card will be offering a better bonus? I would like to do a 2bm and get that as one of my cards but the offer is just too low right now
I was able to get matched to 55K via a secure message. Just say your colleague got a 55K offer.
The Brazilian visa is only valid for 5 years.
You can’t get the visa with out a purchased ticket to Brazil.
In NY you might have to wait up to 2 weeks for an available appointment that can only be booked online. They reserve the right to hold onto your passport for up to a month.
All these rules are directly related to how the American Embassy treats Brazilian. No they don’t make exceptions for anyone!!!
Having said this Brazil is a beautiful country to visit especially now with the strong dollar.
@Sam: How recently did you do this? Any other information other than saying your colleague got that offer or is that the largest sign up bonus they give? Also did you get the club card or explorer
Got the explorer a few weeks ago. That’s the largest they offer that I know about.
I got a 10 year Brazilian visa a couple of months ago from their consulate in Houston. We got the visa without an airline ticket, we just had a booked hotel reservation in Rio which we later cancelled. We had our Visas within an hour of arriving at the consulate, just be sure to book an appointment ahead of time. Not sure where Chana is getting his info.
@Randy:
I got a 10 year visa as well for my whole family, did it via Allied passport.

There’s a real dearth of information there on Chile.
@Randy: I dealt with the Consulate in NYC
Thanks for posting!
1. Does anyone know the cancellation policy for tickets booked with United mileage i.e. Is it cancellable after 24 hrs?
2. Does the method of circumventing the close – in booking fees work still?
3. What’s the quickest way to get a visa for Brazil?
@Dan: I wrote a post of info for Chile here: http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=44779.0
I hope it helps!
Denise

When booking from US to Brazil a Standard Award shows as 65K not 60K, how do you get it to show the discounted award mileage of 45K, is there a Promo Code of some sort?
You need a saver award.
