Hyatt will have its first presence in South Beach since Hotel Victor left the brand in 2011.

Hyatt Centric South Beach is now accepting reservations for stays starting June 1st. It’s located at 16th and Collins.  They’re aiming to open in April, but for now they’re only committing to reservations from June and on.

It will be a category 6 hotel, so it will set you back 25K Chase or Hyatt points per night or 12.5K points+$150 per night.
If you have a Hyatt card and stay by 07/31 you’ll get 20% of your points back, dropping the cost to 20K points per night or 10K points+$150 per night.

That’s not a good use of points in the summer when paid rates are just $229-$239 per night, but it’s a good deal for rooms next January when rates jump up to $425-$469 per night.

Yankees

Looks like quite a small hotel from the images. I wonder how many rooms it will have.

Dan

Indeed, just 105 rooms.

Yankees

@Yankees:

See now 105 – pretty small. Will most likely be very hard to find availability in the winter.

Happy Thanksgiving

The St Regis is 30k SPG points & its nicer.. for only 5k more its worth it going to the St Regis.. now.. doesnt mean that another option is bad, its GREAT & chase ur points are easier to get but still not really a good value

Dan

@Happy Thanksgiving:
Apples and oranges.

Starpoints are much harder to accumulate than Chase/Hyatt points and they are worth more.

Plus the S.Regis is 35K on peak dates. And it’s not in South Beach for better or for worse.

Jim

From looking at the plans for the Hyall and comparing them to the actual suites at the St. Reg. I’ll continue to stay at the St. Reg.

@Dan: i was in the W south beach for 30k starpoints and its much nicer then the pictures from hyatt

Ely

@Jim: Standard room in Hyatt is 300 SQ feet. Standard room in ST Regis is 650. Nothing to talk about.

Dan

You can’t just give a comparison from Starwood hotels to Hyatt hotels.

Starpoints are more valuable and harder to get than Hyatt points.

Raquel

Is Hyatt strict about allowing you to extend your two free nights past one year?

Dan

@Raquel:
They no longer officially allow extensions.
