I just applied for the us airways card a few weeks ago and made a purchase but that bonus was only 40,000 miles. Is there any way that I can get this promotion of 50,000 miles?

any way to avoid the annual fee?

BA is only good for domestic short-haul. BA is awful for most flights to Europe and the middle-east while AA is great.

All banks allow 30 days from when you are billed for the annual fee to cancel and get back the fee.

But if you don’t have the card you’ll lose the perks like free bags and the 5K award discount or 10% award rebate.

If I downgrade now to the lower US card (so I can get another 50k) will I fortify my pending miles or it’ll still post since it’s still a US card.

Dan, do you have some reliable insider information about the card going away “any day now” or is this just an assumption? Some sites warn it might go away by December 31 or before, while others suggest it will be sometime later in the first quarter of 2015. Do you think someone who has recently been declined for the card (a second one) due to already having one US Air card (but has since canceled it to qualify again) can qualify for this or not likely due to the recent declined application not due to poor credit but instead for already having the card?

I am just curious if you are hearing that affiliate links to the offer from bloggers are going away on X date in 2014 and that is why you think the card will be pulled after that date and thus the immediate urgency to apply RIGHT NOW. Any further insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

I’ve been debating whether or not to get this card for a while. With this post of your I figured I’ll give it a try for one year.

While I’ve had instant approvals in the past, I think this was the fastest I’ve ever seen. seems to have taken less than 10 seconds (maybe even less than 5 seconds) to be approved with 20k line.

Now how do I get additional US miles so make this useful? SPG? MR? UR?

I just applied and havent gotten my card yet. I called and asked if I can get the extra 10k and the woman said no problem immediately. Just pay the year fee and put one credit on it “even as little as a cup of coffee” and the miles will be in my account.

US airways is doing ALL it can to get new customers for its CC and will retain existing customers. We both called about AF in 2 months. Quick calls resulted in 5k miles and annual fee waiver credit for $1k spend on both of our cards.

The BA card is issued by Chase, so that would not be a 2BM.

Also Chase isn’t likely to give you 2 of the same card.

@Dan, in #35 you say Chase and Amex are easier to MBM. As 2 data points, I correctly did each one, yet both failed. AmEx gave me a fraud alert and when I cleared it, they waited 5 days before pulling a second credit report and approving the 2nd card. Chase rejected as “too many requests for credit” http://postimg.org/image/nans78nib/ . I am currently working through the reconsideration process.

The companion is 2 additional to the cardholder flying for over $250 ticket at $99 each?

So if a ticket is $400 round trip – it would cost $600 to fly 3 people instead of $1,200?

How is the availability with companion ticket – as long as their are open seats or you have to through some portal that will give you 3 connections to get to your destination similar to citi’s companion?

2. Call and ask to change your bill closing date to 2-3 days after you do step 1 (to allow it to process).
3. The miles should post soon after the bill closes since the AF was paid and you used the card for a purchase.
4. Once miles post, call and cancel. Apparently they will not take back the miles but they will give back the AF. I don’t know why they would be this generous, perhaps by law they must refund the AF and by US Air rules they must not touch miles once deposited?

If I already have one do I have a better chance getting a 2nd one if I don’t put my FF# in the application?

i just applied and the response i got was that i’ll be notified within 10 days. does that mean a denial? i tried calling but they’re closed now.

Contacted Barclays US AirwaysPremier World MasterCard via secure messaging, and they refused me the additional 10K miles, but sure enough, one call to a supervisor and I got the additional 10K miles approved. I originally opened the account last June, so the supervisor was both lenient and supportive. The secure messaging team – not so much. Thanks @Dan

Can these miles be applied to the total cost of the ticket or would I need to buy the miles to make up the total> If the ticket is 100000 miles and I have 60000 would the 60000 apply to reduce the cost.

I already have an US Airways Dividend Miles credit card in which I received 40,000 miles after spending $1, what do I have to tell them that I should be able to get the 50,000 miles?

I applied on line & got automatically approved. However, in the approval message it said I was getting only 40,000 miles after spending $3,000. I immediately called and was transferred from one place to another until finally I was told I would get the 50,000 miles but must pay the $89 fee first.

When I asked to waive it they said we can but you won’t get the 50k. They also said the 50k won’t apply till i pay the af(I know u said it’s not enforced) So I paid the minimum $25 for the month. What do I do now to get the miles. If I cancel now I won’t get the miles bec I didn’t pay the rest or pay and after beg for them to give me the af as Credit

@Dan, they will not give you the “welcome offer” without paying the AF. Your miles for purchases, will post, but the 50K will NOT post, unless you pay the AF. I’m not sure if this is new or not. But it’s what they are doing.
