Update: Commenter Kidooo points out that you can limit the Orbitz search to only British Airways and Virgin Atlantic flights which can help you find more cheap flights:
————————————————————————————–
Bookable on Orbitz. Orbitz tickets are refundable until 11pm ET the day after purchase. Earn 2-2.14 points per dollar with Chase Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card® Card.
I don’t normally post deals that could last a while but may be killed quickly as a result of posting. However once it’s been posted explicitly on DDF as well as other places it’s already on borrowed time, so enjoy while it lasts.
This only works for flights originating in London. If you buy a flight from London and skip the first leg from London-NYC then your entire ticket will be cancelled, you will not be able to use just the return NYC-London ticket.
Repeat: This won’t work for NYC-London.
To book this hop onto Orbitz and click on “Multi-City”.
For flight 1 input LON to NYC.
For flight 2 input NYC to LON.
For flight 3 input LON to OSL a day or 2 days after the NYC-LON flight.
For many dates you can get a price of just $392.40:
Note that the flight from London to JFK and back is nonstop on Virgin Atlantic. In this case flight 1 was for 01/19, flight 2 was for 01/26, and flight 3 was for 01/27. There’s an overnight flight in London so you can easily request in JFK that your baggage be checked only until London. Nobody is going to force you to take the 3rd flight the following day to Oslo.
If you’re flying with kids be sure to specify their ages as tickets will be even cheaper then. 1 adult and 2 kids priced out at just $377 per ticket.
A regular nonstop round-trip from London to NYC for those dates would be $728.70.
Or for Sukkos:
Or even for next June:
Or to Los Angeles (add an extra day for flight 3 as shown in the example below):
Or to Miami:
Or to Orlando:
And to Atlanta, Boston, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Washington DC, Dubai, etc, etc…

Can I use this to fly from NY to London?
What about from the USA to UK??
Anything to or from Paris??
Yes, we need USA to UK
Some folks need to learn how to read.
I’m trying the LON-LAX-OSL one for the exact same dates and only getting a price of $832, whereas you appear to be getting half that. Any ideas?
@Dan (again, not that Dan!):
Are you searching that as 3 separate flights as I wrote?
Yes, exactly as you wrote.
Have you tried it again since posting? I would love to book that $432 one if so!
Just tried again, still working perfectly for my sample dates and lots of others,
LON-LAX 01/19
LAX-LON 01/26
LON-OSL 01/28.
any flights from los angeles to israel before december for 2 weeks ???
Lol
Doesn’t work! I tried to Chicago and ny from lhr, it doesn’t work!
@eyal aharon:
I’m sure there are lots of flights from LAX-TLV before December for 2 weeks.
Call your local travel agent to book them!
@Shalom Gurewicz:
LON-NYC works fine, though I never said anything about Chicago in this entire post.
kayak.com has the same deal, through priceline or vayama
I get 795 🙁
Anyone found dates that work? Succos, chanuka, thanksgiving etc would be nice
Correct, you didn’t say about Chicago but I wanted to give it a try. It didn’t work so I tried NYC and it was also high priced. I did what you posted lhr-NYC-lhr-Oslo and got the higher prices using the same dates as you did for succos!
Deal is alive and well.
If you can’t replicate it even with my sample dates I’d suggest that you read my instructions again, look at the examples again, and if you still can’t get it call your friend to help you out…
I wish I could post what’s coming up on my screen 🙁 I’m getting $832.20 for
LON-LAX 01/19
LAX-LON 01/26
LON-OSL 01/28.
And I’m the friend that everyone usually calls 😉
Thanks Dan.
Hopefully there will be soon a glitch from nyc. I’m desperate for a vacation (international)
@Dan (again, not that Dan!!):
Are you on Orbitz? Still working fine for me.
There are lots of sites where you can upload a pic or file with a URL to share.
@samuel:
Open a credit card and fly free to where you want to go instead of where a glitch wants you to go.
@Dan (again, not that Dan!)
You need to try entring 3 flights 1)lon-lax 2)lax lon 3)lon oslo
Not only 2 1)lon lax 2) lax oslo
Worked For Me In Seconds On Kayak.
Thanx Dan
Tried Lon-Osl on 1/27 And It Worked For Me On Kayak (lax airport)
@dan
i have hundreds of thousands if millage points (thanks to you 😉 but thats for bussiness class. I wouldnt mind another glitch like the united widréo last year…
Thanks, managed to find a few. Going to buy some for my parents to visit 🙂 This is fantastic! Dan – you are the man!
@samuel
So why are you complaining? Take one..
@samuel:
They don’t earn interest ya know.
Burn and earn more.
@Dan (again, not that Dan!!!):
What were you doing wrong?
Was trying April(Pesach) not such luck..
@R:
Pesach works fine.
$395 for:
LON-NYC 04/01
NYC-LON 04/12
LON-OSL 04/13
No idea, it only works for me in an incognito tab. Weird.
@Dan (again, not that Dan!!!):
Well that’s one I haven’t heard before, interesting.
Yay!! Just booked tickets from LHR to LAX for my family to come for succos.
They were $568 each.
Thank you Dans Deals
Thanks.
Booked for my mom to come visit in feb.
$393!!
550 to Chicago!
hello Mr. dan. This is my first time posting on your web site!!!
Do you know if this deal works to toronto ?
@Dan:
I also couldn’t bring it up on Orbitz, must be a cookies issue.
Even in Priceline, it only work when kayak put me through.
@Rivky:
@Ruth:
Enjoy!
@thornhiller:
Nope.
But you can book a flight to NYC and then use just 4,500 BA Avios to fly from NYC-Toronto.
@MeirS:
Tried Orbitz via Incognito or another browser?
Thank you Dan! Just booked for the Kinus Hashluchim.
I am trying to book for my parents but do NOT have their date of birth – is there any way to get around this? (I cannot call them right now cuz they live in UK …)
@Eli Simon:
Wonderful!
Tell Rabbi Kotlarsky it’s high time we had a kinus anash 😉
@Ben:
You don’t know your parents birthdays 😯
Truth is that birthdays isn’t something that is verified or printed on a ticket in my experience.
BA.com didn’t accept 2013 as a birthday for my 11 month old so I made it 1913 and had no issues.
shkoiach i just saw your reply now 🙁 thanks anyway
will this work for a oneway from Lon to NYC?
how much longer is this deal on for ?
On expedia.Co.uk you have more dates for the same price
Just booked 2 tickets for my parents whilst they r fast asleep in London.
Thanks
Shame, my dates too won’t show up on Orbitz. I want to book for my parents but they are sleeping so I need the 24 hour cancelation safety net but that’s only available on Orbitz 🙁
@Moish:
Did you try opening an incognito browser?
On orbitz you can limit airline to Virgin Atlantic and British Airways, this will show you more dates with the $392 pricing
Dan, this doesn’t seem to be working. I went to book first class from New York to Israel with a free stop-over in Hawaii, and it priced out to over $600 total for my extended family of 34.
@too lazy to read
Please elaborate. Thanks
Just booked 2 tickets to surprise my young couple while they’re fast asleep in England.
@Shalom Gurewicz: I booked to Chicago. Was £357 per adult & £313 per kid when it normally would have been £500+ Each. I booked:
LHR-ORD 05/10/14
ORD-LHR 19/10/14
LHR-OSL 21/10/14
If you out the Oslo flight more than 2 days later, then it won’t work.
Is it still working. Can’t find any dates at cheap fare?
Just booked. Someone said the airline might charge if so many people don’t take the oslo leg. Is there any basis for this? If they do charge do we have a basis to fight?
If they catch on, which is likely with so many people booking, you are liable to extra charges etc as it is a clear violations of their T&C below.
Don’t say you weren’t warned!
12. Travel Services Terms and Conditions
Reservations and bookings
You agree to abide by the terms and conditions of booking imposed by any supplier with whom you elect to deal. A supplier that is an air carrier is required to make available to the public the terms of its contract of carriage, and we make available the fare rules for all air carrier tickets before booking.
The circumvention of an air carrier’s rules, including practices such as back-to-back ticketing (booking two or more tickets with overlapping travel dates in order to circumvent minimum stay requirements) and hidden-city ticketing (booking tickets including segments which the booker does not intend to use in order to circumvent an air carrier’s pricing structure), is prohibited by many air carriers. The use of prohibited ticketing practices may result in the air carrier taking actions including the cancellation of the ticket, denied boarding, revocation of frequent flier miles and other benefits, additional charges to the booker’s credit card, additional charges collected at the airport, or future invoicing.
You are responsible for ensuring that your bookings abide by the terms and conditions of bookings imposed by any supplier with whom you elect to deal, including terms and conditions of booking set forth in an air carrier’s fare rules or contract of carriage.
Can the LHR-OSL leg be changed to. Different European city once booked? Is there a fee from BA?
Some are using this as a ticket to the kinus with the third leg for Oslo others are saying if you don’t turn up for oslo then you’ll be charged a hefty fine is this true?
Does anyone know if I have to change the dates will I be charged a change fee based on the price I got now ? Or the price it really is?
I’ve been told that you can be charged 100’s for missing a leg of a flight and it is against the t&c of the airlines. Dan: is this a true rumour?
@Too lazy to read: are u sure you meant 600?
@Y Golomb:
Passengers are never charged extra for not taking the last leg.
If you skip a leg then the rest of the itinerary is canceled, but you won’t be charged extra.
by the way you can take the inbound flight from london to NEWRAK
RE: LHR-OSL leg
Have a simple courtesy and cancel the reservation so the seats can be sold to someone else. You can say you are too I’ll to continue.
Just purchased the tickets London to JFK and return for succos on virgin and the Oslo leg is on broths airways. Can they really charge for skipping the Oslo flight?
Thanks Dan, just booked for my kids, 4 tickets for Succos to Chicago at $520 each!
Just booked two tickets! Thanks Dan. You are awesome!
not available on most sites anymore but orbitz still has it
Thanks Dan, worked perfectly for me outbound 27 Nov, return 4 Dec.
Thanks dan booked for succes 393!!!!
@Monsey Mom:
No!
Is this a price mistake or a glitch or just a good deal?
Are you able to change the date of the tickets once its booked is there a penalty or can’t be done at all
is there any other city that the last leg goes to with the same price? ie instead of london-oslo, london-amsterdam/paris
btw people have been booking Brussels and Geneve instead of OSL as the extra leg and have been getting the same good deal
cant seem to find anything under $600 for succos, or for this month. any ideas? Orbitz doesnt even show Virgin as an option.
try kayak works fine for
me
if i arrive in the morning in london
and i have a flight going out 12 hour later the same day
could i request that my baggage be checked only until London ?
the reason why im looking to book the same date that if i book it for a later time it cost more
Would I be getting mileage for my flights up till oslo?
if u don’t fly u don’t get
miles!!
Just booked London/LA
Thanks Dan
it amazes me sometimes how stupid the questions get here, but will give the benefit of the doubt and that people simply dont know better and are asking what they think are sensible questions.
1. You have to book the london oslo leg, to leave within 24hours from when you land back in london. FACT.
2. Best is to book the leg (within 24 hours from landing) but on the next date, so that you dont even have to ask that the airline check in your luggage just to london, because they wont if the lon osl leg is the next day. For eg. you leave nyc on the 16th and land on the 17th at 1pm in london, and your lon oslo leg is on the 18th at 10am.
3. Dan is not a travel agent. He doesnt know if the 18sep 2028 will work with this deal or if it works from Lisbon to Hawai. All the details of the deal is posted in the original post and thats all he knows.
4. Nor does he know how much longer this deal will be on. FACT
5. Too lazy too read, was being humorous. its beyond me how people ask questions on his post seriously!!!
I have forgotten the rest of my rant. bless you all
I booked it with the last leg lhr-osl three days after landing in London. That way i’ll definitely get my bags.
$393
I found from Manchester: man-JFK-man and added a leg lhr-osl $478
I wonder how many other British or European cities this might work for.
@manchester
which dates?
im gonna sound like an idiot but any chance this needs to be booked from america? im in london, i tried kayak,orbitz both in an incognito page and followed all the directions! tried going to chicago thanksgiving weekend and its showing 900 dollars 🙁
Chicago is very tough.
Thanks Dan booked for Sucoss under $400 a ticket true Kayak, I have a Question I’m landing in London on the Oct 21 9:30AM and the flight to Oslo is 7:30pm the same day, would it be easy to request to pickup the luggage on london.
@Dan:
I had tried incognito and it didn’t help. I see now though that narrowing the search to those specific airlines as you recommend does work. As the deal was still alive today I was able to book the flights and got a great deal. 2 tickets into MIA and out of JFK for $543 instead of $890+. Thanks Dan! In case anyone was wondering it still seems very much alive…
is this deal still alive trying to find a flight to vegas
wondering if the deal is still available , waited a bit too long…
Hi,
I am trying to get seats on London – NYC (1/30); NYC – London (2/8) and London – Oslo (2/9). I don’t seem to be getting the $393 fare. Can anyone help with dates around this where I can get the $393. Travel dates are flexible.
Thanks much for your help. Appreciate it…
@Pankaj: are you getting the 393 at all?? i dont seem to be getting it anymore. i think it may be over:( i want it for sukkos
@Dan: dan is this dead? you didnt post that so i keep thinking that its still possible… thanks
I am not getting it at all! This morning I saw the deal for 1/19 – 1/26 though it didn’t work for travel dates I am looking for; even Dan’s sample dates don’t show up with that price any longer…
Looks like it’s over
@Dan:
Not working for me 🙁 I’d love to book it immediately too…is it perhaps over?
I heard from two people who booked and flew this deal that they told them their luggage had to go to Oslo and if they wanted it in London there would be a massive charge. Their flight was also MORE then 24 hours later…. any advice Dan??
I need a ticket from ny to london
