I’m not sure why they don’t just give it away for free. A kindle is basically an Amazon vending machine. The cheapest part if your purchase is actually buying it.

HAHA I just bought a kindle 3 days ago, after waiting several weeks to see if any offers would pop up. I’m not targeted (I wonder if there’s a connection).

Just spoke to a rep and told him how “dissappointed” i was for not being eligible on any of my four accounts and he offered me a 75$ promotional credit toward the purchase of the kindle paperwhite…In for 1!!!

I have Prime and several Amazon accounts. None of it worked.

I just tried that for my Mom and we were turned down with the script “Sometimes other websites (dansdeals, lol) post amazon promotions without specifying….. Blah blah blah. They are beinf told not to honor this, I think you got lucky before all of the dansdealers bombarded them with complaints.

In the end, I got the paperwhite without ads for myself and the kindle fire HD without ads for my Mom.

Phone rep told me that within a few weeks everyone will get included. They just issue it in batches. Anyone else get this message?

I was looking for something to use mainly for seforim but some basic emailing. I would specifically want to maintain tzuras hadaf like hebrewbooks.org. I was thinking of getting a cheap android tablet-they have them on amazon in the $50 range. Would the regular kindle or paperwhite work for that or would I need the android capabilities of the HD? Is there an advantage to the kindle hd over the android tablets? It seems that it would be a bit more complicated to get apps on the kindle since it doesn’t have google play.

They dropped the prices on all of these devices for everyone now. Many are getting chat reps to issue refunds for the “price differences”. I was shot down once, but the second kindle rep issued me credits on both orders.

I believe the 16 gb fire hd dropped by 40. You should be able to get 40 off. At least with the no special offers version.

Also looks like the various hdx models were discounted as well, unless I’m missing something.

I too had ordered a Kindle ($19) and a Paper White ($44); however, two chats plus one phone call all met with a stone wall. Each time I was told “we see you already used a $75 promotion, and cannot give you another”. (One of the chat reps had xferred me to a Kindle Rep.. Not sure how to avoid that).

I also got just the Kindle for $19 and haven’t called CS for an adjustment yet. Has anyone heard of Amazon cancelling people’s accounts for too many refunds/returns, etc.? While everyone loves a good deal, I think too many of these can possibly get your account closed. I’m wondering if Dan can do an article further about this?

I had to try 4 unsuccessful chats (and one unsuccessful phone call).. Finally a few hrs later (at 530am ) chatted with one rep and they gave me $20 back immediately on the Paper White,, then did separate chat and got the $20 bak on the Kindle. I guess gotta keep trying.

I had to have five chats before someone finally capitulated – they noted the $20 decrease today is a Mother’s Day promotion, and the $75 one for the Paperwhite was also a promotion. The two don’t stack. They did it as a one-time courtesy.

Amazon were JERKS. They know that some of these deals were honored by they refuse to honor mine even though they acknowledge that it was their mistake. I told them how misleading this deal was to just change the purchase price a few days later. Very dissatisfied.
