Just so you know, Since May 1, Amex only gives 3 points per dollar when booked thru the airline directly, but not thru any travel agent or online.

If you are doing the UA Chicago roundtrip option-not returning to CHI of course, one way fares from NYC are as low as $121. Or if you are going as Dan suggested for a meal first, and are in NJ for example, then have someone drop you off at Trenton Airport and take Frontier nonstop for under $60. Even with a $30 dinner per person, you still are saving $hundreds each.

Lakewoodeagle, you can never miss a segment that’s not the last of your itinerary or they will cancel the rest of your itinerary. If you book ORD-EWR-TLV and miss the ORD-EWR leg, they will not let you board EWR-TLV even if you have a boarding pass. It only “works” if you’re skipping the last leg of your trip.
