Is this going to be hard to use on shabbos? anyone know? Do the lights change when you take cholent out to serve?
@sim Gutman: it’s not meant to be a slow cooker. Pressure cooking is actually fast cooking.
I take it back, I’m used to stovetop pressure cookers, I didn’t realize the instant pot also does slow cooking.
@sim Gutman I have the lux50 and got the optional glass pot cover. As long as u have that this is good for shabbos (the normal top makes noises when opened or closed). Need to turn the machine around so the control panel isn’t accessible, and there isn’t much room for aluminum foil between pot and sides so u need to use ref foil instead of heavy duty, but otherwise works like a charm.
lights only change when the timer goes off (max slow cooking time is 20 hours then it turns to warming), not when u take out, but if u use their cover there may be a light change in addition to the sound of locking in and out of position.
One other minor issue for me has been taking the actual stainless steel pot out of the machine while its hot isn’t so easy since there aren’t handles on the sides so u need to pry a bit with the back of a spoon and then pull out (and hold on to a side/top if u plan to put back on).
